Horn worms are listed in black on the nutritional chart which means they can be fed occasionally, not as a staple. http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html
Here is the link anything in green can be a staple.

It's just my opinion of course, but I don't feel that ANY "worm" is viable as an ONLY staple feeder.
None of the worm types let you gutload them the way you can with Dubia and Crickets, so I think
that any of the worms would be lacking in some nutritional values, and that makes them invalid
as an only staple feeder, even Phoenix Worms.
A a staple along with other varieties of worms, sure...variety can help cover any gaps.
As supplemental feeders along with properly gutloaded Dubia/Crickets, absolutely.
By themselves and only themselves, no.
That is a good thought process, I use phoenix worms as a staple, but I still feed my guys crickets too just not everyday and the crickets I gut load. I just order dubias to try and start a colony, right now I'm waiting for them to come alive as I just received them and they are hibernating (I hope, some of them have started to move, I am hoping I don't have to many DOA's).
I do have a substantial Dubia Colony as well but would like to do like half and half I'd like to see if I can get the horn worm to go full cycle as well Egg to Moth Moth back to egg

I personally do Dubias and Superworms (mainly because any other worm just doesn't seem to interest Stella - I haven't tried hornworms with her yet, though).
My youngest dragon Lulu which is almost 2 years old now Won't touch anything but a superworm or a freshly molted Dubia or hornworms or silkworms she loves her worms I've got a got some super worms ready to turn into beetles I'm going to try breeding those as well and I want to thank everyone for their input I will let everyone know how it goes
