Holiday Beardies in need of homes

I volunteer at shelters in the Bay area of California.
since the holidays many of the shelters have been getting an influx of animals (not surprising really) but this year we got a shockingly surprise amount of beardies.

Im really urging people (paticularly if you live in the bay area) if you really want a bearded dragon or a reptile of any kind, please go to your local animal shelters. Many young beardies were abandoned only a week after Christmas and as I can assure you there are very few reptile handlers at any given shelter (im one of two that knows anything about basic reptile care at the shelter I work at)

Most shelters will sell the bearded dragons (or reptiles) much cheaper than you would find from a breeder or petstore ($20-40 on average) and some will even give you some starting gear if you donate some money to the proceeds.

It breaks my heart to see all these beardies get abandoned and I wish I could take them all home.

I urge everyone whose able to go to a shelter and adopt one.

You should go on facebook and join a group called World Wide Reptile Rescue. If you post this info there, likely people will go get them. Another one is I think called "bearded dragons in search of loving homes". :)

I live in Stockton, can you email me how many beardies, what kind of shape they are in and how much do they want for them? I am a member of a rescue site " for the love of bearded dragons " and know of a few rescues here in Ca that might be able to help. [email protected]

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
