Got 250 dubias in today and Rocko is definitely a fan! He pretty much eats any bug but really loves these like his Phoenix worms. Lol

Its pretty for sure that these dont cause impaction if they are the right size? He's ate about 15 for lunch (at 2) with 20 large reptiworms an then just now at 6:45 ate 25-30 more and a cricket or two that was left in the bin. His tummy is huge!! And he hasn't moved from the spot he last are from.
It's like he's Jabba the hut and too fat to move. :/
Normally after eating he goes up to bask so I'm a tad worried. Do u still just keep feeding until they stop? I didn't keep giving him some and stopped him.

The outer bodies on them seem so much tougher than the crickets but it's like crack for him. He darts all over the minute they go in.
He's tasted the cream of the crop now. :)

Dubias were mediums btw - not real small but the exact width of his eyes.
Rocko is 5 months 11 or so inches

Dubia are just as safe as crickets. They seam crunchier but actually have more meat vs. shell than crickets. You can also get them nice and plump with fresh veggies and water.

He sure looks content. Or like he expects more, I can't tell. Lol

Good to know.. I was going to research more on what to feed them. Dubideli is local to me and has a feed I bought but I was curious about other foods since they are roaches and all. Lol
An yes.. He stayed that lazy way for a while before attempting to climb up his rock. Ha!

I use chicken mash when I'm low on veggies, otherwise the roaches get the stems/leftovers from Peppers salads and any fruit/veggies scraps or stuff that goes bad from our kitchen. They love squash, apples and citrus fruits. I give them the seed end of the squash and they eat it skin and all. They demolish apple cores and will eat every morsel out of pineapple peels.

I put a green bell pepper in the bin (cored) a few nights ago and within an hour or two the whole thing was gone. I always get a kick out of what they do to mangos. Nothing but a rock hard pit left over! Corn on the cob too - they eat a hole right through it!

As far as feeding, just use the 15 minute rule and you'll be fine. :D

Try slices of white bread. My colony literally will pour out of the egg crates about 15 secs after I put in the slices. And breeding your own roaches is the way to go. So easy and for me, I trade the extras to my local reptile dealer for butterworms, hornworms and silkworms so works out great. And I too use chicken mash for them. I use Scratch and Peck organic corn free and soybean free starter chick mash and the roaches love that stuff. And then toss in carrots, all squashes, apples, oranges, dandelion greens, pretty much stuff I want my dragon to get in her. The roaches though won't eat collard greens or mustard greens.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
