Hiding all day, not basking

Mine is now about 5.5 months old.. just switched two days ago to Dubia roaches and a reptiworms (new supplier but he's always had 'phoenix' worms). Stopped crickets yesterday. The last 2 days he's been hiding out all day in his rock cave and not basking. I don't think he's ever gone in there except for sleeping at night. Usually he's basking all the time.

Eating is normal and I actually posted yesterday about how many dubia's he was consuming. He had a good poop this am as usual and ate a bunch more worms and dubi's then about an hour later he was gone in his rock and doesn't want to come out. I got him out once but he went back in.

Hi, you're right, at 5 months old, he should be wanting to bask rather than hiding.

Could you fill us in on your setup? What size tank, wattage of basking bulb(s), brand & type of UVB & the distance of that particular bulb. Also, what type of thermometer are you using and what are the basking & cool side temps?

he's coming out a bit more and seems to only be doing spurts in there now.

His tank is 100 gallon with a 100W basking and temp is 105, and a 150W basking temp is about 108-110 but I put a screen and it goes down to 105ish. Cool side is 78-80 but doesn't go there often except to go under the 100W bulb. Other side is about 88 where his hammock is and the other basking spot. that basking spot is also his cave underneath.. same rock.

UVB is 24 inch Reptisun 10.0 in the tank middle length wise and about 8 in up from both basking spots.
Also has his smaller mini 5.0 reptisun 12 in. or so over the cooler side basking spot. Since I only have the 24 in. UVB in a 5 foot tank I have the mini also there.

He's been in this tank a few weeks and been adjusting better and better each day. Just this odd hiding last 3 days.

Are you using both a 100 watt basking bulb and a 150 watt heat bulb at the same time?

What type of thermometer are you using and where exactly are you checking the temps? A temp of 88 on the cool side is a little to warm, should only be 78 to 82 to allow for proper thermoregulating.

Could you post a picture of his setup?

They aren't in the same spot for basking.. Both are off center on opposite sides.
My cool side in 100 gallons was too cold so I put his precious 100 watt over there and he ended up liking basking there also. Temp needed up perfect at 105.
Other side he also likes to bask and I need the 150 to keep the heat in the tank high enough.
The cool side is 78-80.

Temp checks are with my soaping lazer gun.
His cave basking spot is too hot, I checked it again, but he still has his favorite other location and then rest of the tank. The cave is a new item (but he never used his smaller one either) and I think it's just too high and not as low as his other one.
I wish I could find a 125 bulb.. 100 is too cool and doesn't help keep that cool side up higher. Plus it takes forever in the am it seems for him to warm, without the 150 going.

Sorry I don't have any suggestions about your beardies behavior, I just got mine and I am a total newbie.
I was looking at the pics you posted and was wondering what type of tank that is? Are these a special kind
and where do you get them?
