Hiccup or gasping for air?

I took Max into the vet yesterday because he hasn't popped in a week. They put him on a special diet (gave me a syringe to feed him a special healthy green food twice a day). After feeding him the food just now, he started what appears to be hiccuping or heaving or gasping for air. At first it was frequent like he had the hiccups, with his tummy convulsing. Now it's once every couple of minutes. He's not turning dark, but he's never done this before and I'm scared. I called the vet and they said just to see how he's doing in 24 hours, but didn't explain to me why Max was doing this or if it was normal. They said, "You can bring him in if you want, but it'll be an additional exam fee.". I'm just really scared and was hoping someone could shed some light on what's happening. They took an X-ray yesterday to check internally for impaction or anything and everything looked good.

Hi there....he probably aspirated some of the food. It may clear out on it's own, so give it a few days and hopefully he'll be fine. For the record, not pooing for a week or two or even three is something that can easily be treated at home by offering simple natural laxatives like applesauce, baby food squash or prunes , blueberries and some veg.oil or a bit of raw honey added to any of those. Then a warm bath can help to induce a poo.

Thank you so much for responding. He's seems okay right now, but the breaths were startling. They were loud and consuming of his body, even though he doesn't seem bothered by them. He's just never done this before and I'm worried. It's been several minutes since he's hiccuped/gasped now, but I still feel scared. I've never had a dragon before, so it's hard to know what's normal or not. I appreciate the help greatly.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
