Hey all,

Brand new here. Like 5 minutes new :)

I recently acquired an approximately 3yo male bearded dragon just over two weeks ago. After researching them for the last few months, I finally decided it was time to take the leap and bring home a new family member.

As far as I know, Attila has has 2 previous owners; the last ones apparently only had him for a few weeks before putting him up for sale due to their kids being afraid (??) of him. The owners previous to that apparently got rid of him because their house was undergoing renos and he was "in the way", and the kids also lost interest. SMH. I'll never understand this type of thought process when it comes to pets, but whatever. He's with me now :)

Anyways, long story short (because I'll be posting in a different topic later about some concerns I have), he wasn't cared for properly prior to coming to me (bad diet, bad supplementation, poor handling/care, bad husbandry, etc.) so in addition to the shock of two re-homes, he's been a little skittish to say the least. The good news, however, is that he is moving away from simply tolerating me to becoming more at ease with my presence. So, I'm definitely looking forward to creating a better bond with Attila over the coming weeks/months, and having the opportunity to see what his personality is really like in better conditions.

Without further adieu, here is my little big guy:

Looking forward to spending time here, sharing and learning along the way.

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad to hear he has found a good home with you. He looks like a big healthy guy based on those photos, so that's encouraging. Continue to be patient with him while he adjusts to a new home and gets used to handling. He will probably warm up to you quickly but in some cases it takes quite a bit of time depending on what kind of environment they are coming from.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Bearded Dragons.
Removing stress, that coupled with he has still got to finish shedding, it might take some time to bond with him.
I can say that his is a handsome critter for sure.

Awww, thanks! :-D
Yeah, I figured he'll be a little pissy until he's done shedding. I can only imagine how uncomfortable that might be...so I'm trying to balance giving him space and also making sure he knows I'm around and safe for him on a daily basis.

We're only in our 3rd week together, and I gave him his 3rd bath this afternoon. He doesn't seem to like it all that much though; could be because his previous owners never bathed him (which I'm almost certain about)...combined with the transition to his new home here with me + shedding. LOL poor guy...

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
