Hi. My name is Mina and I have two bearded dragons. My first is a two year old female in good health named Munchie. My second is a recent rescue, (recent as in I've had him a week) named Canth. He is very thin, and suffered some kind of trauma to his jaw. There is a scar across the top of his head and it looks as if his jaw was broken or dislocated at some point. He has been seen by an exotic vet and is on antibiotics. At first he had to be force fed but he is now eating on his own and showing much more energy than before. The vet is confident that with continued good care he will be fine. The jaw will remain as it is, but the vet said as long as it didn't interfere with eating, it would be ok.
I was just hoping for some support. I worry about him. I was sure that I could find people here who had nursed sick or injured dragons back to health, and I want to do my very best for him. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Unfortunately I can't give you any background, we know nothing about his age or where he came from. He was dropped of at a Petco in a box.

I guess the biggest question would be - are they housed separately? Especially given his condition being housed together could be very dangerous for him.

Sorry. I should have made it clear. Yes they are in different houses. At the moment we are being careful to isolate him from her as much as possible. They live on different floors of the house and I make sure that every day I take care of her first, then him, then change my shirt and scrub my hands and arms. I hope to get the results of his fecal test tomorrow. He still has another month on the antibiotics and will get a vet recheck next month.
I have no interest or intention of breeding, and no plans on ever housing them together.
She might teach him bad habits!!

Wonderful! So glad you took him in. Sounds like your girl might be a bit spoiled? Haha. I know my Max is.

Oh yes, my Munchie girl is spoiled. She is our little dragon princess. I just wish she didn't have such a problem with being handled!
Canth seems to be improving daily. He has a lot more energy now than he did even a week ago, and is really interested in his food. He still doesn't like his baths, but he doesn't seem to mind his antibiotic injections.
All in all life on the dragon front here is good.
On a side note I wouldn't ever be comfortable housing them together. Munchie is bigger than Canth, quite spoiled, and likes what she likes when and how she likes it. I think she would get offended at having to share a house and would not treat him nicely. So far he seems much calmer than her, but since I don't know his age, he may be an adult as well, and doubtless once he is in good health and has gotten to a better weight, wouldn't want to put up with her.

I do too. Everyone comes up with such interesting names for their dragons.
Update: Canth does have pinworms, and is now on medication for them. We will recheck a stool sample after his medication runs out.

Yes, he is named after Canth the brown dragon from Pern. I figured that the Canth from the book is a hero and a survivor. He is the biggest brown dragon on Pern, and he survived his fall from the red star. So I hoped by naming my dragon after him he could become a big survivor too!
Apologies to those who don't read Anne McCaffery's Dragonriders of Pern books.
He is continuing to improve. He has more energy, and is eating more. I hope for a weight gain when I weigh him tomorrow.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
