dont worry!!!!!!!! dubia roaches need heat, food, and humidity to breed. IF they get out they would live MAX 1-2 days and deffitenyl would not be able to breed
Sorry man but I have to disagree with you on the fact they would die in 1-2 days max. I have had a few dubias I put into a container I was going to give to a buddy and promptly forgot about. 5 weeks later I came upon them when I was cleaning up my room. Not only where they alive but there were more in there then I put in.
I do agree though that dubias are a very easy and great feeder to breed. They can't fly, climb or run very fast. They generally breed if the temp is above 80 degrees F.
I just got my 1st beardie less than a week ago (intro post coming once I get pics!) but I have been keeping chameleons for over a year now. Before I bought my 1st chameleon I set up a dubia colony for very cheap! I went to wally world and got a very large opaque plastic container with a locking lid (very important for piece of mind) I cut out ventilation holes on the sides of the tub as well as on top and covered them with metal mesh window screen (in case they get froggy and try to chew out) I then used hot glue in gobs to make my dubia jail inescapable. I laid a good bead of glue down and followed it with a tongue depresser to really work the glue into the screen to make it that more secure. I cut a half an orange in with them and keep the colony gut loaded off my own personal wet blend. I use cricket crack for the ones I will be feeding off the next day and my roaches are healthy, hell they eat better than I at times!
My colony breeds like crazy. Turns out my 2 chameleons don't really care for the dubias as much so I ended up selling off a lot of extra to chameleon forums members, which left me actually in the black as far as my dubia investment went. haha makin money off roaches.
