Hi I'm Kayla. I have 3 beardie babies. I came to this sight lookin up where to get the cheapest dubia roaches, because my bearded dragons eat roaches faster than the colony can reproduces I'm stuck with all babies and adults and no median roaches. I have a huge passion for reptiles. My first beardie, Marty, I got from someone who didn't have the time. He is a year old and very healthy. My second, Jay, was a very, very angry beardie that no one wanted at a pet shop and my bf felt bad for so we decided to get him. He is about 6 months old. He eats 2 to 3 bowls of food a day and his poop is kind of runny but i was told that it's just because he eats a lot. My third, Angel, I just got I would see at the same pet store/rescue as special needs. She is a sweet heart and loves people. Every time I saw her I felt so bad she doesn't have a home because she looks like she has been through hell and she's too sweet of a beardie to live her life in a pet shop. I finally broke in and got her today, now I'm going to try to fatten her up and get her to eat (she doesn't like eating her veggies). So I'm thinking about using horn worms as feeders for her to try to get her to gain weight and give her veggis through a siringe for now. I'm not sure her age and when I asked they just told me they don't know. I'm a bit worried about her. She has a cough I noticed today but they said she's been to the vet and it is normal for her.

Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you should start a breeder colony and have a separate feeder colony to provide time for your breeders to establish. I'd keep them in two separate bins for now and order more and feed out of one and let the other settle down.

Don't worry about fattening your new girl up. Just give her proper lighting and a nice varied diet and she'll gain some weight over time. Stick to dubias as a main bug feeder and also provide a nice varied salad every day and see how that goes.

I've been sticking to Dubias with her, she still is having issues eating her veggies but she loves fruit and bugs so I've been getting her to eat by putting Dubias in her salads. She has gained weight from when she first came to the rescue but her muscle mass is still too low for her to even jump to a hammick so i have it sitting low and I'm going to raise it and make a ramp for her soon. I just have to get more clay and glaze and fire up my kiln. I found out what exactly happened with her. Her first home took care of her then breed her and afterwords neglected her and didn't give her uv light, then she ended up at the rescue and went to another home where she was neglected and malnourished again. She ended up back at the rescue skin and bones. Apparently someone took her home for a few days and brought her back claiming she was agressive. I don't see how, she is really sweet. I don't see why people like that even bother owning reptiles. It's really sad.

Me too. She actually ate almost a whole bowl of veggies (as much as Marty eats) today on top of half a baby sirenge of banana and some dubias. She was hand fed. The rescue couldn't get her to eat more than a spoon full a day so she is doing so much better already. I'm so happy for her.

That's great news! If she's starting to eat that much on her own you can probably start slowly easing off on the syringe feeding unless she especially likes it.
