Hi guys! Trying again. Introducing Ignis!

Hi all! My name's Marsha, my fiancé and I are eagerly awaiting our 2nd beardie this Thursday. We bought one, little Kilgharrah, about a month and a half ago from Petco, but sadly a week ago he passed away, the vet wasn't sure why but he stopped eating so we were force feeding him for about a week and a half and he was getting more energy and then last Thursday he just crawled up on his log, fell asleep and passed away.

This time we ordered a Medium Red beardie from LLL Reptile, and he's coming in 2 days. Once our little guy gets here I'll update with pictures of him. We got the reptisun 10.0 today so we setup his viv, I'll post pictures of that. Any feedback about his viv is appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your first dragon. Sometimes animals just don't thrive.

The viv looks good to me, so long as the dragon doesn't try to hide all day in those logs. Some young dragons may respond to the stress of a new environment by hiding. My dragon had a foam basking rock with a cave at the base that he never used, but he didn't have any relocation stress either, so your mileage may vary.

You could just stuff them with paper towels to prevent that from ever happening.

Yeah, I've been thinking about taking the bigger log out while he gets used to us.

Well, looks like our new guy isn't coming tomorrow, we got a call this afternoon from someone over at lll reptile saying they have an 8" red male with a nipped tail, when we ordered a 9-11" red either sex with a whole tail a week ago and they still had listed a couple days ago. Waiting for a call back from them to figure this all out.

Your viv is beautiful, are you going to add a taller basking spot so your beardie can get as high up as he/she wants?? Didn't know if that was missing or not.. hope you get your new pet soon and have a much better experience this time around..

I'm still tweaking it, I can tilt the driftwood up more on the little log to make it higher, I just wasn't sure he was supposed to get so close to the uvb light, everywhere I saw people saying 6-8" and him on the top is like 6".

Our little nip tail guy is coming tomorrow, they just didn't realize till they were geting him ready that he had a little nip on his tail and wanted to check that was ok.

We got it at Petco, it was brighter, it seems to have faded a bit.

He's still really skittish when we reach towards him but he hasn't black bearded at all, and only had a little bit of stress marks first thing this morning.
