Hey from California

Hey my name is Jonathan and I just got a bearded dragon. I have never had one before so I am learning as I go, so any knowledge that ppl have would be appreciated =) my lil guy is from the local pet store and is about 5 months old, and I am not even sure on gender. Anyway, hello everyone and I have a ton of questions, so if anyone is up to the challenge; I would love to pick your brain with my questions.

He's really cute................. I always think about those who don't know beardies saying to themselves
"a lizard - cute?" But we know.

Someone here more knowledgeable may question your substrate and big water bowl. Let's see who replies.

Okay I already mentioned in a PM about the substrate but good lookin' out Neecie because I missed the water dish.

Okay I live in Fresno too an I found that the water dish only created a lot of humidity in their viv's especially the smaller viv's. To much humidity could cause a respiratory infection. Instead of the water dish sense they rarely drink from standing water anyway I just bath mine daily when they are not brumating... an once a week when they are. They will absorb lots of water thru their vent. You can also offer water with a syringe or by letting it drip off of their nose. I also spray the salads down real good with water this not only will help keep the veggies fresh longer but allows them more water. An you can mist them. With Baby Bender I put the water dish in for a few hours each day because he will drink from it, but I don't leave it in there 24/7.

yeah, I named him El Guapo after the 3 Amigos.... my wife and I decided to name our pets after characters from movies we grew up with =). Oh, and I was going to take out the water dish but he seems to enjoy running over it lol, and the humidity is about 50 with it in there, so that's about right, right?

I'm sorry I missed that you had already given his name in a prior post.

50% is on the high side(want to keep it between 30% and 50%) so if it gets any higher you'll want to take it out. I leave the dish in for my baby for a few hours a day because he seems to like it. But if I leave it there all day it creates to much humidity.
