Hey Canadian friends; Zoo Med Repti-sun 10.0

So, seeing as I am Canadian, they make it extremely difficult to locate the Repti-sun 10.0 tube bulb. I am currently using the Exo Terra Solar Glo bulb, which I do not entirely mind because it does provide heat as well as UVB, but I would like to acquire the Repti-Sun. No local pet stores supply this product. Has anyone found a supplier online that has both the repti-sun tube lights, and the suitable hoods?

Oddly enough, Amazon lets me order the lights, and not the hoods.. and I would be worried about mixing and matching brands. Sigh.

I ordered mine online from Pet Mountain. Not sure if they ship to Canada or not though.

Oh no, it is not a problem. I will just keep looking. I had mentioned to my local pet store about them supplying it, but they already have the Exo Terra product. I had told them I would appreciate variety. It's just a pain.

It sounds like it. I've mentioned to both of my local pet stores that the Reptiglo bulbs cause problems with certain reptiles, but they still will not stock the ReptiSun product. So I told them they just wouldn't get my business anymore. I can buy everything I need off of the internet, but I still like to go to the store sometimes!

See, I did something similar. I emailed them saying that many people have said the Repto-Glo causes seizures and other negative health effects on BD's, and I would hope one day they provide Repti-Suns as another option.

Their main reptile guy has "tested" the Solar Glo, vs the Repti-Sun tube, and said the Solar Glo came out on top. I wasn't even comparing the Solar Glo, I mentioned the Repti-Glo.

He then went on to say that perhaps people had their lights too close to the animal, which might be the cause for the seizure.

Anyway, the point of my email to him was requesting variety in tubes and such, and I got a huge email of scientific mumble jumble. I am sure science has something to prove, but personal experienced kinda play a big part too.

Though, recently I have ready that many people are afraid to say that the Repti-Glo bulb is not a BAD bulb so much any more, but because of it's terrible reputation is given a bad name.

Either way.. it should be a pet stores job to provide variety of products, and when I am confined to Exo-Terra products, I feel a bit overwhelmed.

I understand your feelings! I wish I could say I never go back, but they do handle their bugs well.. and I love going in to play with their baby beardies.

Finding reptisuns here is retarded! I went to about 4 different pet stores and only 1 had a reptisun, everything else was reptiglo...its very stressful finding proper bulbs. If you do find a site in Canada please post it.

Btw. Im thinking of trying dubias, where do you get them on Canada??

Yeah, Dubias are unavailable as well.

As are most worms (Locally they are having more and more trouble getting horn and silk worms..)

All we have ready access to are butters, wax, meals, and supers.

Almost makes me want to move to the states.

www.mrherp.com seems promising. but i always feel deterred when i can tell the site was developed either in the 90's or by dreamweaver. */end designer snob moment.

Anyway, do you think the Naturalistic Terrarium Hood handle a Repti-Sun 10.0? It only mentions the 5.0. The hoods seem to be the hardest part to get. lol.

I couldn't tell you for sure...I searched everywhere for ballasts and I ended up buying the reptisun electronic ballast..It was pricey but works great!!

mrherp.ca just opened the site this year I know I couldn't do any better lol but I am no good with website design :lol:
