Here we go again (Ruby)

Ruby ate everything she could get into her mouth (including our figers if we weren't quick enough) after laying her last clutch a few weeks ago. Three days ago she suddenly stopped eating, the arch in her back (mbd) has become extremely pronounced again, the last two days she's been restless and just a minute ago I saw her digging in her hide. She jumped (well to be fair, it is Ruby after all) she 'cough cough' lumbered, lurched and stumbled right back out of the dig box I put back in for her. But at this point I feel safe in calling it, she is going to lay AGAIN. That will be the 4th clutch this year already. I feel so bad for her.

Hello,

Wow, poor Ruby!
Are you giving extra calcium for her since she has metabolic bone disease right now?
Let us know how she is doing. I hope she isn't too stressed overall. I know it has to be
exhausting for her!

Yeah, I've loaded her up with calcium between clutches. It's hard to get her fat reserves back up though, the pads on her head are very thin. But honestly all the scrambling and raising cain to get out has been good for her, her leg strength has improved tremendously.
I hope this is the last clutch this season so I can get her weight stabilized.

I mean, eggs are eggs, surely you'd be able to cook them
It would probably be safe enough, but i don't think i could do it, it would feel like cannibalism to me i think.

Ruby laid 16 eggs last night.
Man I hope she is done for a while now.
I've now had 103 eggs since January, and not a single one was fertile 😔 This is why you need to put serious thought into it if you want to breed your beardies just because you think a clutch of babies would be cool. All but 18 (I think) came from Ruby. She is the one that tied up with Sinatra. That would have been 85 babies to try to find good homes for from 1 pairing in just 3 months if he had got the job done. (Beardies can lay fertile eggs for up to a year or so from 1 breeding).

Poor Ruby! I think she is very tired, she had so many clutches. I hope she completed the plan this year and this was the final laying. Does she have a good appetite now?

It was ok, she ate 2 hornworms and a few supers this morning, it usually takes her to day 2 to really chow down.
I'm considering picking up some butterworms to try to get some weight back on her. Just in case.

Geez, I couldn't imagine having 85 children

I think you know this yourself, but she could also use some extra calcium and vitamins.

Yeah, I load her up for the first week, then I trim it back over the next two. She hates the calcium but she is hungry enough to except it at first.

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
