Help!!!!!

I went out at 8:30am and when i got back at 12:30pm my heat lamp had blown and shattered all over my 4month old bearded dragon! ( He was cold and loosing colour my neighbour took him out and we put him in a box to keep him warm while i hooverd all the glass out my dragon was really stressed i have the vivarium back to normal temp now i have left him in the box in the viv so he can calm down im so worried will he be ok? he is not looking happy i thought i should leave him alone to get over it all I went back to the shop were i bought the set up from and they didnt care i had to buy another lamp i cant beleive how cold hearted the guy in the shop was!!!!

wow! I hope he's ok. I'm always worried about something like that happening. What kind of light were you using??

You could have just used a regular house bulb, they give off heat. Or, get a 45 or 50 watt hallogen flood light, they give off more heat than a 100 watt house bulb.

Thanks i was using a fireglow bulb 60watts! i never new you could use a normal bulb! i use the red bulb so it doesnt disturb his sleep! He is still in his box very shaken up im hoping he will be ok after a few days! I still cant beleive it!

That's a very scary situation. We went to Tucson to shop for groceries, this was close to 2 months ago. When we got home we saw Speedy's tail. She had gotten herself stuck between one of her basking rocks and the glass side of her tank. She had one very dark gray beard and had something stuck on her chin. She had that "black" beard for at more than 1/2 an hour after we got her unstuck. We moved the rock after that so she wouldn't get stuck any more. This had to happen when we were gone for about 10 hours so we don't know how long she was like that, probably a couple of hours at least. She was NOT a happy beardie that night. So we understand how freaked out you are.

Yer he showed us his black beard which he has only done the once! He is just sleeping it off at the moment! Im mad as he has just started to really trust me and is becoming so tame im worried this will be a huge set back and we will have to start again Im going to check on him in the morning! I hope its not long before he calms down!
