Help!!

My bearded guap has been going through it lately. We found out he had parasites, she gave him one dose of metronidazole and then had us give him panacur for 3 days. He’s still not eating, still not pooping solid, and i’ve tried soy yogurt, and i’m about to try Zilla appetite stimulant to see if that’ll get us anywhere. Can anyone throw some pointers out there? Basking temp 100, cool side 87, 30 gallon tank with a tube UVB and a Halogen housing with an additional UVB light. He’s active not lethargic, he just won’t eat his food.

I recently went through this with my dragon Eleanor. It took her about a week and a half to show signs of any appetite after I started her on the meds. I think it's because they're so harsh on their tummies! What I did, was made a huge veggie smoothie with calcium powder and reptile vitamins included in it. I syringe fed her as much as she would let me (usually about 6-10 mL) twice a day. You can also talk to your vet about Force Feed, which is a dry powder that they can proscribe you. All you have to do is mix it with a few drops of water and again, use a syringe to feed it to your dragon. I would give him about a week and a half to respond to those meds before you start to worry! Definitely force feed him either a smoothie or the force feed, so he doesn't drop any weight. It also boosts their immune system so that they can kick those parasites out of their bodies. His poop should return to normal once he starts eating solids again. If you're still concerned, you can always call and ask your veterinarian for a second opinion!

Your basking temp. is good but your cool side needs to be lowered to about 80. Too hot right now at 87 and could affect his appetite . BTW, was he eating well before the meds. ? Some people use a probiotic like soy yogurt [ NON dairy ]
