I am a new owner of a roughly 2 month old Beardie. I have had him for about a month and he has been no trouble. Not sure of the sex but for now Thin Lizzie is a boy. Anyway, two nights ago I did not turn the heating and "light" light off for the first time as I always have. Yesterday he was acting funny. He kept holding his mouth open wide but would not eat when I tried to hand feed him. And he was acting very lethargic. Later that night he disappeared in his aquarium. There is no way he could have gotten out. The only place I can figure he is, is in the very small tunnel in the tree that is in his aquarium and I cant see all the way in to see if he is in there. While looking for him I came across a cricket that has had to of been in there for a couple weeks because I stopped feeding him crickets a couple weeks ago because he was not eating them. So then I was worried that maybe the cricket, that had grown larger, had hurt him. OR that leaving the light on overnight may have made his aquarium to warm. There is no way for me to get him out of the tree tunnel and I dont want him to die in there. I dont want him to die at all!. Its only been a month but I have grown found of the little bugger. Any advice?

It's possible that leaving the lights on messed with his sleep cycle and made it too warm. He should be able to bounce back from that though. I'd put the lights on outlet timers so you can automate them. Is there a way to shine a light into the tunnel to check on him? I'd try luring him out with a dish of worms or similar treat.

Good news! Thin Lizzie has emerged from the tree, has eaten and seems perky. Whew! I put the tree in the sink and hosed it down and at one point saw his head poke out. Cleaned the aquarium, and got rid of yet another cricket that had grown too big to be eaten and put the tree back in the aquarium. My 6 year old just said "mom, Lizzie is out!" Yippee. We are all high fiving. Lol.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
