HELP

I need to know what this is



I'm taking him to the vet as soon as possible probably Monday as we don't have a car and that's the only day I can get a ride .... But in seriously worried because today he's starting to look sick .... His eyes don't look as bright he won't stay in his basking spot and he's cold so I keep putting him back there but he keeps going back to the cool side and just laying there I've been putting betadine on it once a day hoping that it would help bring the swelling down and it hasn't his temps are normal nothing has changed I have him on slate tile as well and he's only been eating crickets lately but I'm trying to get him to get back on his veggies I'm just losing my head right now because nothing I'm doing is working !!

Hi Dracey....poor little guy. It is some type of infection, and the strange little dot in the middle looks like the point of entry. It almost looks like a cricket bite, but that would be a strange place for a crick to bite but just to be safe, make sure there are no hidden crickets in his tank. Was his other foot similar but it healed up now ? I think I remember that. Anyway, an experienced reptile vet can hopefully give some beneficial treatment. In the mean time, try some raw honey on it. [ like from a health food store ] It's a natural antimicrobial + can often reduce swelling. But if the infection is inside the foot he probably also needs antibiotics.

It's natural for some dragons to hide when they're not well....hopefully he'll be feeling better soon. Someone else may have thoughts on his condition as well.

Thanks o didn't thug of that it looked a little bit but it didn't nearly get as swollen or irritated looking he does like to walk on his crickets hell literally stand on them just because he can his other arm still has the red dot but it's not swollen or anything and is getting smaller I'm going to ask the vet to look at it too just in case I cleaned his cage the other day there were a couple hiding and I vaccumed them up I'm usually pretty anal about not leaving crickets in there but I guess a few slipped through the cracks he sleeps with his palms up sometimes so it's possible one could have nipped him I'm just worried he'll need like surgery or something or the vet won't be able to do anything for him

I think there's a good chance that the vet can help, it looks sore but it looks treatable.

Thanks ! I think I'm scaring myself with all these horror stories online of things being untreatable etc the appointment is booked though so I'm less worried but still a little worried lol

Hey I figured if give you an update since you were so helpful the vet said its not a cricket bite but he's sure it's like a pressure point injury from being on the slate tile so he had us a cream called flamazine to help with the swelling we are supposed to call them in a week and possibly go in for another appt / checkup but basically he suggested we put reptile turf ( repti carpet??) or moss in the corner of his cage that he dances the most or runs around in a lot I'm just worried he'll try to eat it .... But so far he's chewed on it and spit it out a few times lol so maybe he's figured out that he doesn't like it ... But yes things are looking up

Well, that's good to hear and I hope he heals up quickly. That makes sense that it may be from walking on tile....despite how nice it looks it's still not natural for them to be on a hard surface all the time.

That's true lol he's still unsure of the moss but I'm sure that will just take a couple days to get used to only put it on half the cage for now
