HELP

Feeding Thor is getting pretty expensive when it comes to him eating 40-50 crickets everyday. The only supplier near my house is overpriced, but I have no choice but to buy from them. (Plus they get their crix from Fluker's, so I get a handful of deads.) Also, I can't use the net because I don't have a credit card and Dad wont let me use his to sustain my lizard.

Veggies are cheaper, so I'm wondering - when can he start eating a more balanced diet?

People keep saying that at 2-4 months it should be 20% veggies 80% insects. When can I go 50/50%, and when can he be eating more veggies entirely? Thanks for help.

It's still gonna be a while before you can switch to 50-50. A year is the youngest I'd recommend. The Kroger stores near me have a huge stand of gift cards, and one of the options is a Visa giftcard. You can buy them with cash and then spend them online just like you would a regular Visa card. I pay about $22 for 1k. I couldn't afford just feeding Lilly pet store crix.

I was going to suggest the same as above. Go to a CVS or Walgreens..or any other place that sells MasterCard or Visa gift cards.....buy one for yourself and then spend it yourself online.

Sorry to say, but you have a long way to go yet. Beardies through the juvenile stage should be fed 2 - 3 times per day, as many as they will eat in 10 minutes or so. If beardie is a good size and weight at a year old, you can *begin* to slow live feeders, and work toward shifting to veggies as the staple, live feeders a few times per week.

Sara had a great idea about the credit gift cards. :mrgreen:

Aside from that, if you have a bank/checking account, many of the vendors (incuding Flukers) allow you to use Pay Pal which will draw directly from your account to pay for purchases. Indeed, if you can figure a way to order on-line you will save a bundle and keep beardie in TONS of crickets, which of course, she definitely needs for a good while yet.

I've tried the Visa cards - there was a huge hassle and in the end they just refunded our money because it wouldn't work and when you call customer service all you get is robots that don't understand much. :|

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions and help all. :mrgreen: I suppose I have no choice but to find some way to keep his cricket supply as full as he demands it.

Have you talked to your parents about a debit card yet? I don't know how old you are, but I told my parents around 16 or so that a debit card was an absolute necessity for safety reasons (ex need gas or whatever) and they agreed. Paypal also a good idea if you have a bank account (which you would need for a debit card anyway).
