Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can assist me with an answer to my question.

I know and understand that temperature is important to the bearding, and that the lighting provides the temperature.
What i am worried about, as i know it can affect their jaw bones etc, is how do i effectively control the temp???
Its summer here and its very hot. So if i leave the bulb on (no the UVB one, the other one), the temperature jumps up to 110+ and when its off it goes right down to about 80?

Anyone have any advice?
It will be very much appreciated? I am so worried about my baby! I cant help stressing like a crazy woman!

Hard to understand what you are asking, but, I keep my temps 105-110F. I try to keep them below 110.

I incountered a similar problem with my Mali Uromastyx. I was befuddled at first. I had a 250 heat lamp that was basically cooking the tank by itself. Malis like it hotter then beardies but this thing was bring the temps up to 134F in the tank. So I looked for the answer and found it a home depot for $8. A lamp dimmer. I could regulate how much heat the thing was putting out so when with it that I was capable of marking the settings on it for each desired temperature. You may see similar items advertised in reptile sale rings as a rheostat, but it the same devise (with say maybe $10 added to it). The other great thing about it is you can use it to simulate daylight changes. I have a dimmer for both my beardie and my mali and slowly bring the lights up to max in the morning and slowly off at night, the timers take care of the rest of the heating and light stuff for them. Hope this helps!

Brilliant!

Thank you so much!
I will go an look at the hardware store here (i am not from the US). And see what i can find.
You are a great help. I think this will do the trick.

We had a cooler day yesterday and i left the heating lamp on all day and the temp stayed pretty low. but on a day like today when we are experiencing temps in excess of 100 F its hard to keep the tank at the right temp.

:blob5: you are a star!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
