I am getting a beardie shipped over night from a good breader in California. He'll have a great travel setup and should be in transit for only 12 hours give or take. I'm in Chicago and that's A two hour time difference plus the obvious stress of travel. What do I do to make sure my new guy gets as comfortable as he can? Is there anything I can do to help with the time difference? He'll be setup on the same times as Khaleesi so 7:30 am - 9:30 pm . Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there....if he's a healthy, well adjusted baby he'll be just fine with no need to worry about the time difference. He may take a few days , a week or more to be totally comfortable, or he may settle in very quickly. One thing ....when you open the box, give about a minute before you lift his container out in to the light so as not to shock his eyes going from a dark box to bright light. Then let him settle in with very little handling. After about an hour offer a small/medium meal and a bit of water via syringe or spray bottle dribbled on his snout. He should settle in O.K, even if he doesn't eat much at first.

Thanks for the relief I didn't really think about it in the beginning but as it got closer I was like wow my little beardie seemed traumatized after a 5 minute car ride where I treated his container like an armed bom to my apartment what is this guy going to do on a 12 hour trip with fedex. But you made a point that I completely agree with and think that's great you told me because I probably wouldn't of thought about that, but is it a problem when they're lights go on in the morning? Like it's totally dark and than bam 100 watt light bulb and a uvb bulb go on. Is this something that I shouldn't be doing?

How early do your lights go on ? Is it actually total darkness ? I guess if that's the only option it will have to do, but if you can wait another 30 -60 minutes [ when it's not pitch black ] it would be better. You can get timers to turn them on if need be. But either way your dragon should be O.K.

Ok I see, ya it's not completely dark their time goes on at 739 and off at 930 so it's not completely dark when they go in. Ok phew I was worried I was doing something wrong haha thanks again!!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
