If that's the exact tank you plan on getting it's actually smaller than a 40. It does have the same foot print, 36x18 but it's not as tall. If you wanted that brand and style tank but an actual 40 get the exo terra large wide. It's 36x18x18 while the large low is only 36x18x12.

Ok so I would invest in a 20-24" fixture w/ reflector and a Reptisun 10.0 bulb --- either the T 5 bulb or a T 8 whichever is more convenient for you --- the T 8 would haft to go INSIDE the tank where as the T 5 can sit on top of screen ---- w/ certain distances and basking decor -- it needs to sit directly over him

Hello,

The Solar Glo 125 watt MVB is a nice bright light, though it doesn't emit a lot of UVB but it's
overall a nice light. You could get a tube bulb to use in combination with the Solar Glo for a
stronger UVB.
How close to him is the Solar Glo?

The light is probably an inch and a half away from the top of the cage which is then 5-6 inches away from the log where he can sit to be under the light.
