help with lighting

ok, decided on viv size of 48x24x15 . My question is how big should the uv fixture should be. Some say a 24 inch others 36 inch. Could some one advise me the best way to go. Also do I need to add a fixture for night time heat ? Plan on adding a fixture for bashing . I would greatly appericate any advice .

For a tube style UVB bulb, like a Reptisun 10.0, I believe the rule of thumb is; at least half the size of the enclosure. I'd go with the 36" fixture myself, the price difference is negligible and you get more area covered. Does your house temperature get below 65ºf at night? If so you should put in a fixture for night heat, remember to use a ceramic heater, not a coloured light bulb, for night heat since even coloured light can keep them awake.

Thanks for the advice. I was leaning with going with the 36 inch fixture.AS for the night time heat , I will install the fixture and monitor the night temps to see if it's needed. If needed I will use a heat emitter.
