Help with Exo Terra Light Unit?

Okay , so i got a repti-sun 10.0 48 inch 38 watt bulb in the light unit , its all hooked up and when i turn it on the light turns on for about 5 seconds , then turns off , the light unit it ment to hold 2 x 40 watt , i took the bulb out and tried a differnt one but it only turns on for about 5 seconds? Please help don't want to use compact bulb

Maybe fixture is faulty? Is it new, if it is you could exchange it for working one. Are these ExoTerra fixtures with magnetic ballast or electronic one? If they're ones with magnetic ballast try changing the starter (one inch long round thingie).

its like a plug and a socket , just 2 holes and it fits right in and clicks to let you know its in , and im returning it tmro and getting a differnt one , thanks
