HELP! Shedding problems

I'm really worried about Perseus's shed. His head started to shed last monday, it turned completely white... it has yet to shed and now its a washed out orange looking color? His shed has never done this before! Also his body went into shed last monday and its all white with no improvement, he has been given daily baths. I also picked up something called shed aid from the store on sunday and have sprayed him with that on monday and today. He is currently in his 2nd bath as we speak today in hopes of some improvement. any advice would be helpful and greatly appreciated. I will attach pictures

Everything is fine. Often, their shed seems to disappear, then re-appear before it finally comes off.

I had a very similar experience recently. My guy started to shed and changed light. It went on for weeks. It was literally like a disappearing shed. I think what you're doing is great.

diamc has A LOT of experience with difficult sheds. Maybe if you're getting really worried you should PM her and show her pics. I think it will be fine though You can always apply 100% cocoa butter on your baby at night before the lights go out. It helps a lot. Using a soft baby toothbrush in circular motions during bath time helps too.

Thanks to both of you for your input. I hope he improves soon, I'm just a worried... I'm sure he will be fine though. I will try to find 100% cocoa butter to apply at night for him.

He's very pretty too! The last two sheds Batman had we're SO bad that his back actually never shed the first time while everything else did. Then 2 weeks later it was like 2 gross layers of dead skin off his back. He was fine though! He even had a lot if swelling and to us it all looks so bad. There are lots of things that can help but it seemed to me that he just shed whatever he shed on his own time

Thank you!!! Poor Batman... I feel so bad for them because they look so miserable shedding. I am going to try to find some 100% cocoa butter for Perseus tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed that is helps him. I will keep you guys updated on any progress

Just a "heads up" on that cocoa butter...you're best bet is an all natural store. The first one I purchased and returned was 99% and the pharmacist said the 1% was water...it was alcohol! A tip: the 100% or even 99% with water as the 1% will come in a stick or a round tub and be solid. It's not a lotion. Don't be fooled. If you get it, post a pic first.

Like I said, I was tricked and almost put alcohol on my boys peeling skin! Not sure of damage it could have done if any at all but I know a moderator was pretty adamant that it shouldn't contain any kind of alcohol. Which makes sense

Good luck, I still think your handsome little man is just fine. Probably itchy but the warm soak and soft tooth brush will sooth him for a bit.

Just an update..... I never found the 100% cocoa butter for Perseus. Being a nurse I'm very cautious of the ingredients. Great idea! I will try a health food store today and I have good news! Most of the shed on Piraeus's head is off but he still has his beard to shed and his body! Keeping my fingers crossed.... I hate to see him so miserable.

I'm glad to hear he's actually started shedding for you. The pictures you showed were actually of him in pre-shed, which can actually last a lot longer then you'd think it would! There's not much point in putting cream of shedding aids on them till they actually start to shed though, and at that point you can ascertain if the shed is going normally, or if they need extra supplementation.

I have another concern/question.... I've noticed that Perseus's skin on his back seems wrinkled a little as far as I can remember his skin has always been like this but as far as I can see from pictures online no other beardies is like this? There's also 2 wrinkled spots in his beard? I'm assuming that's there for when they expand their beards? Well I did a search and all I could come up with was dehydration but there's no way he's dehydrated when he's getting a bath everyday. Anything else that would make his skin like this?

Ridley is wrinkly as well, especially right before and after a shed. I guess after one, his skin is "too loose" and before one, it's kind of stiff from the detaching layer, so wrinkles then too. He'll wrinkle on his side and behind his arms, but he always has lots of folds under his neck though!

This was just after his last shed, and you can see the heavy wrinkles under his chin.

Some dragons are just wrinkly I guess? lol
