So my rescue keeps trying to poop even though there is nothing in her system. i have been trying to get her to eat chicken baby food because when i tired to give her live food she threw it up because her tummy can't handle it. she has been on pelets and freeze dried worms. but she won't eat the baby food and she has been up since 8:30 and she has tried to poop 3 times. its 12:30 where i am now. i have had her for a few days and since the first time she pooped after i tried live foods for the first time her vent has been inflamed. (acutally her first live meal was done by my boyfriend because he picked her up and cared for her over christmas) her first poop was 6 days later. i tried to give her a sugar water bath but it makes her try to poop more. one poop today did bring a little poop but the fact that something came out suprized me. she has a vet appointment for he 3rd. it would be earlier but my vet is out of town. i am debating just taking her to the other vet anyways. is there anything else i can do for her. she may have parasites. i am very scared for her. when she tries to poop she starts shaking and sometimes her back legs won't move for a little while. how do i keep her kinda okay till next thursday?

Poor thing ! It sounds like an impaction. You can try giving a bit of veg. oil, prune baby food or canned pumpkin with no spices. Impaction can be very serious, and she can end up with a rectal prolapse from pushing. If the straining goes on too long, she can go downhill very quickly. If she will take any baby food at all, add a drop or two of veg. oil, and put her in a shallow, warm bath. Hopefully she will pass it ASAP.

Oh, and the freeze dried worms may not be easily digestible for babies, whatever insects you give her from now on need to be no longer than the space between her eyes. When you say her vent is inflamed, is there red tissue coming out ? In that case it's an emergency, and you would try the cool sugar water to reduce swelling, but the prolapse would need to be put back ASAP, they can't live long once it pops out. A vet would be needed immediately.

Yes her rectum has tried to come out. She has now tried 7 times. I had to put her in the water to clean her up. We have tried oil and i have forced baby food down her throat but now she is trying to drink her weight in water. I am calling the vet

Oooooh, I should have asked her age, I aplogize... I was seeing your signature picture there with the baby dragon. And my comment about freeze dried worms was in reference to the first post that mentioned that was her diet prior to your getting her. There is also a possibility of being eggbound, trying to push out eggs. I'm sorry that she is in this condition, I hope the vet can help her !

They are expecting us in 45 minutes. Lol that picture is of my 6 month old boy 5 months ago. I hope they can too. I just watched her in the bath for 7 minutes and all she did was drink and then try to poop again

I'm hoping the vet visit goes well. And it's good that she is drinking, she needs the hydration since she vomited. I just saw your other thread in the introduction forum....did it say she had silkworms and some superworms ? If so, that would have been a bit too much [ especially if it was superworms ] for her tummy to handle and also to digest. Some vets put in a couple of stitches to keep a prolapse in. The pictures of her up close looked much better than when you first got her, she probably just had too much to eat too quickly and her system is having a hard time with it. Hopefully her system will settle down and she recovers + can bounce back !

He said try veggie for a few days to try and get her tummy to calm down, and then try to get protien into her. He also said try some oil so help her pass stuff

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
