Hello,
I just got my first bearded dragon about two months ago, everything is pretty much fine but he still doesn't like to be held. Yesterday I went to go buy him some worms (he is a baby and is about 7-8 inches long) I usually feed him phoenix worms and about 2 butter worms a day, but they didn't have anymore phoenix worms. The worker recommended mealworms so I bought a few of those. He usually eats a lot but when I introduced him to the meal worms he only ate about four. This morning I tried to feed him his mealworms but he didn't eat any, I don't think he likes them. He ate his butter worms though.
I was sitting down watching him and he just threw up a bunch of pieces of his mealworms, and is now just laying by his basking rock on the floor and hasn't moved. I don't know what to do and im not sure if something is wrong with him but some feed back would be nice

He is probably full of those meal worms and please dont give him anymore- --- they are too hard on his stomach --- try bathing him tomorrow in a nice warm bath and massage his tummy to try and get him to go poop -- you need to be feeding him live insects like crickets or dubias roaches which I recommend --- the people at the pet store do not know what they are talking about they have no idea ---- dont listen to them ------ he should be fed 2-3 times per day depending on how many crickets or roaches he eats - dubias are more filling and nutritious ------ and they dont stink or chirp like crickets - he should be fed salad every day here is a website for you for nutrition -- bugs should be dusted 5 x per week w / D3 and vitamins 2 x per week ---

Now for the most important thing of all is what kind of lighting is in your tank --- UVB brand a bulb please---- also how are you taking basking temps---- infrared heat gun ? digital probe? or stick ons? His basking temp should be 105-110 for a baby --- you need a bright white basking bulb ----

Hi there,

Were the mealworms too large for him? It sounds like they might have been since he threw them up.
Did he have plenty of time to digest them before lights turned out?

Mealworms are a bit tougher on the system to digest, but dragons are more than capable of doing so as long as they are properly sized and the husbandry is proper. All of mine get mealworms as part of their varied diet.

What is your basking surface temp?
What are you using to measure it?

Could you post a picture of him and his tank for us?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
