Help Please ! What is the RIGHT basking temperature?!

Ok I need some expert opinions here.... I keep my basking spot at about 105, cool side of the tank at 75-82. I just got yelled at by a bearded dragon breeder who claims I am "roasting" my beardie with that hot of a temperature. He said 90-95, i think that is WAY too low for proper thermo regulation and digestion. When I told him I got this information from a lot of sources he basically called me an ***** because his "20 years of experience " makes him right. Opinions Please ??

I think you're fine at 105. We run hatchlings/juveniles at 105. SubAdults/Adults are run at 100. We haven't baked a beardie yet :).....as long as you're hydrating him often and he's capable of regulating temps by moving to or away from the heat - he'll be fine. Also, we keep the cool end at 80. Just our $.02

I personally run, 115F in direct basking spot (checked with digital thermometer/hygrometer). While maintaining an ambient air temperature of 90-95F in the same general locale. "Cool" side of their enclosures runs 80-85F ambient. Nighttime temperature is at 75F.

Clearly this bearded dragon breeder you spoke to with his "20 years of experience" has no experience with customer service, or manners. I basically only trust this website or a shop in Paisley, Scotland for all my information :) If in doubt, beardeddragon.org ;)

20 years of doing something doesn't mean it been getting done properly. Your 105 is right on. At the very MINIMUM, you want the basking spot to be 98 degrees.

Thank you everyone, I thought 90-95 was ridiculous. Just because you can keep something alive at a temperature doesn't mean it'll do as well as it can. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing any harm.

I let my Beardies decide. There is both a hot side and a cool side, with a spot on the warm side that is for basking. The basking spot runs around 110. My Dragons like this best, have been doing this for years with success. My reptile vets tell me "keep doing what you are doing, it is working". :)

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
