Help, please!!! Somewhat of an emergency here!!!

I'm leaving at 5am tomorrow for a month.

I left putting in the MegaRay to the last minute.

The spot under the MegaRay is 116*.

It's in a 250*-rated clamp lamp. I would install a fixture higher up but I don't have time.

I need to cool it off by 10*!! How? What can I do??

It has burned in for around 24 hours.


ANY advice much appreciated!

I think it takes 3 days to burn in typically (someone said theres took a week). I know that is NOT the news you wanted. Sorry .

You could create more vents and hopefully this will allow circulation, you can also put a fan in the room.

i was going to suggest more vents also, or if you can put a small box fan outside the vent nearest the mvb to get the air moving.

Thank you, all! More ventilation is not an option right now; Budo's in a 4x2x2 melamine viv, it would take a long time to get more vents installed.

Sara, I think you're right. Why was I thinking 24 hours?? In any case, it can't be helped now. I'm ordering another ReptiSun 10.0 for while I'm gone. When I get back I'll burn in the MegaRay and save the ReptiSun 10.0 for another emergency. Thank you so much for the help!

Awww, this is breaking my heart. Closely supervised, I turned the MegaRay on this morning for a few minutes to let Budo warm up until I put the halogen bulb back in. It's only been on for a few minutes, and he just went to eat his greens. :love5: With the parasites and then the ReptiSun 10.0 burning out, he hasn't eaten his greens in a long time!

Great news! :lol: Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. So nothing else can go wrong.

Turns out I dropped the halogen bulb (not the MegaRay, thank goodness, but the basking light I was going to use)(thank goodness Budo was out of harm's way), so I'm starting from scratch with the lights. Then it turns out our vacuum is at the neighbors' and I don't have anywhere to put Budo because there's broken glass all over his viv. So I'm in my bare feet, running back to my house (the pavement was really hot) with a lizard on my shoulder and dragging a vacuum behind me. :laughhard:
Neighbors: "I knew there was something funny about that girl!"

Glad to hear you're getting all your bad luck out before your trip! That's the way to do it. Now you will have a great trip and Budo will be just fine without you (although he'll miss you quite a bit). Seriously though, things will get better! Hope you have a good trip!

Thanks! The sitter just left; I was showing her around and telling her about what she needs to do. She seems really excited and says she'll take Budo over to her house to hang out, too, so he won't be lonely. I'm going to miss him a ton, though.

Awww, I know. I've been out of town sooo much this summer, I feel awful about leaving everyone. Not to mention Lilly doesn't seem to eat well and something always seems to go wrong when I leave her (cricket lid left off the bucket, lights left off, somehow her tank top- less than 2 weeks old- got warped and doesnt fit quite right anymore, etc). I'm leaving again next week and am already nervous, especially with her sitter telling me he will TRY to feed her 2x per day, but won't make any promises. Anyway, I'm glad you found a sitter that is looking forward to watching him. Everyone acts like Lilly is a huge burden , they don't bother to see the sweet cuddly side of her. I'm sure Budo will miss you tons, but he'll be fine. Have fun!
