HELP PLEASE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR ASPIRATION

Hi i recently got my dragon back from the vets after getting a small cyst removed, my vet is 200 miles away so i left him for a couple of days and to get a full health check and all came back good.

Only on the journey home i heard him cough then when i got home on saturday this has continued, i phoned my vet and he says he was perfectly healthy when we had him in and the l only possible answer is that my dragon has been stressed on journey home and regurgetated causing self aspiration of the critical care that the vet gave him after his op

Currently im nebulising twice a day and bathing once to try help clear it through the guidence of my vet. He is still very alert and he is also on baytril after getting cyst removed to stop any secondry infection as precaution as vet said the cyst was contained and hadnt spread

Has anyone any tips on how to treat, annoyingly critical care is sticky so it must be hard to help it up

I hear mine cough every now and again, and I just raise the temp in his tank, even at night, and after he falls asleep I move him so he is slanted with his head lower than his body.

He's not on any meds tho.

Hello,

See if you can place him on a slight decline for sleeping at night, in case he did aspirate some fluids. That way it will help drain them out overnight.
Also, raising the nighttime temperatures does help, just to around 80 or so for boosting his immune system.

Hey thanks for the replies Tank temps are also up and i have tried to make him sleep at a slight angle but with in minutes he wakes up and corrects himself.

Its pretty much a cert that aspiration is the cause as he went from normal to sounding like a cat purring pretty quickly not like an RI. I have noticed some improvements since saturday, up until yesterday he had pretty much no colour about him and constant black beard. Where as late last night i could see his nice bright yellow coat coming through and just a slightly grey beard also he has also went from purring all the time to only purring after the nebuliser and then last night after the neb no noises at all. He is a bit heavy listless but bright at the same time and not to forgett he is also on baytril, he has certainly improved since saturday nice to see a bit of colour reappearing

Hey guys any help appreciated my we guy has improved greatly he is up every morning straight to his basking spot he is eating every other day even with being on baytril (for his cyst) as you all well no baytril usually knocks them for six and they stop eating and everything else.

Now the issue i have is since my last update all croaking has stopped he never acts listless his breathing is pretty normal there are no longer signs of struggling to breath he sleeps well without gasping all this subsided after 2-3 days nebulising my only issue is he more often than not has the tip of his mouth open?????? I know this can be a sign of RI or aspiration or just difficulty breathing in general but he has no other symptoms??? I have quite a bit of RI experience and generally you see mucus or the gag or they just hide and dont want to bask but he is the opposite even after asppirating he never ever hid or didnt go about his daily routine

My tank temps are up for ovbious reasons but he still spends majority of time at the hot end so it cant be too hot but my humidity is 15% is it possible to actually have a viv too dry?

Please help if you can, it is possible when baytril stops maybe this will stop also in past when ill and on baytril he looked terrible but because he isnt ill and baytril is Precautionary incase of secondry infection from cyst he has been great on the stuff
