Okay so our female beardie is 8 months old. I recently had surgery and have been home with her for the last few weeks day and night. Pre surgery she was up in my sons room but due to inability to walk stairs after surgery we moved her to living room so I could easily care for her when my son isnt home. Pre surgery I would turn her lights on every morning at 6:30am before going to work and after work I would go upstairs around 5 pm and feed and play with her and stuff. She would be out and about and go to glass to be picked up. Quite lonely and quiet up there. Lights out after 9pm most nights. She loves to snuggle so I spoiled her early on by burrito wrapping her for bedtime every night. I still do that every night. She will go to sleep on her own though if we are out late and nobody is here to put her in her hide. Now since the move I notice that she won’t leave her hide in the morning. I have to take her out. It’s already 11:30am today and her lights have been in since 6:30am and she’s still in there?? Cool side of her 40 gallon is 70 degrees and warm side says 85 degrees. Basking spot is about 110 degrees. We do live in Michigan and it is winter. We keep our house at around 72 degrees. I’m not sure if she’s spoiled or lazy. She’s also became a quite picky eater and won’t eat food out of her bowl anymore. Wants to be hand fed her greens. Stopped eating crickets and wouldn’t even touch the hornworms we bought her. Likes Dubai’s and superworms though. I’m worried because we leave for vacation for 5 days this week and my teenage son will feed her two of the days and my daughter will feed her two of the days but works 6-7pm. Nobody else to play with her while we are gone but my mom is coming to turn her lights on a few of the mornings that my son is in school. My mom is not thrilled with the thought of having to handling her nor is my daughter. We will plan on having the local pet store board her for 5days in a month when we go on our second vacation. We chose not too this time because we have family helping. I go back to work in two weeks so I have to get her back to coming out on her own and eating on her own again. I wonder if because there’s more to see here in the living room and she can see the tv and us many times a day and we have cats she likes to watch that she’s just comfy wherever she’s at in her cage. Any suggestions or ideas why this is happening?
