Well I have a year old bearded dragon and the other day I found him biting his own tail, it was bleeding and everything. So in a panic I took him out the tank and washed him off and applied some neosporin on him but now I'm not so sure if that was a good Idea because It just looks horrible. I did some research and I figured he was stressed because his tank was next to the baby beardy tank so I put a divider to keep them from seeing each other but his tail continues to get worst, its like its growing up the tail and its black and pussy looking. I'm scared please help this guy means alot to me.

If there's pus, it is infected, and he NEEDS to see a vet for antibiotics and possible amputation of any necrotic tissue.

Ouch! :( Yep that's definitely an issue that needs vet help asap, especially since it keeps getting worse.
Good luck! <3 Human and beardie fingers & toes are crossed for you and Mitch :)

He really needs to see a vet before it gets any worse. If its got pus its definately infected and wont get any better without antibiotics. You can try soaking him in a weak tea like solution of betadine and water <make sure its like weak tea> then apply an antibiotic ointment. I wont promise it will stop it but it will clean it and will give him topical antibiotic. Please get him to a vet...if its tail rot from infection from him biting his own tail and its spreading up the tail..the poor thing can become septic.

I'm really worried now because I'm not sure how much a trip to the vet is gunna cost me and I'm more in debt than anything right now. I can try the tea thing but I don't know what my chance are on him getting any better, do u think its possible to amputate the infected part. I'm freaked out by the thought of it but I can't let him just die. Their has to be another way. =(
Any suggestions

I would not suggest you amputate his tail, it can cause further complications. I am sorry but at this point he really needs a vet. You dont want any infections going to his bloodstream cauing sepsis. Also depending on how far up the tail would need amputation, it could require stitches. Definately he needs antibiotics.more than what antibiotic cream/ointment can do.

Money is tight here too, I feel your pain! :( You can call the vets in your area to see how much a reptile exam will be (the ones in my area are anywhere from $49-$70 for an office visit/exam), though treatment for Mitch's tail will most likely cost extra :(
The good news is that some vet offices do payment plans; you can ask about that when you call as well.

Mitch needs a vet and I know money is tight so I hate to even suggest this but have you thought about signing up for the CareCredit card. It's like a creditcard but you can only use it at places like the doctors, vets, and dentist. My vet takes it and every time they do they run a special promotion where if you pay it off within a year you don't have to pay any interest. This is what we use when we take our little monsters to the vet.

I can't really think of anything else to add to the conversation but if you think he is in pain, perhaps some silkworms might work. The enzymes have some properties that help with pain and they are also good for him. I believe there is a website that sells the enzyme in a liquid form or something if you wanted that instead.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
