i now modified his basking stick for him and it now allows him to get as close as 4".

also that bright light in the corner is a 3500k led, it puts off little heat. i know it doesn't give UVA. its just bright enough to protect his eyes from the UVB. he gets his UVA from the reptisun and power-sun. if his condition doesn't clear up i will replace the power-sun with a normal basking light, and then will assume that it is a neurological reason. also both bulbs are less then 6 months old.

thank you all for your help.

Hello,

That is a great looking tank setup, I love the grapevine in there.
I see what the problem could be. The lighting is fine, they are good lights. The tube UVB is
mounted on top but on the side of the tank. While it has a reflector on it, the UVB light is not
mounted directly overhead. So, the UVB emissions will project outward & away from your
dragon instead of directly downward onto him.
The UVB light refracts away & bounces off of the glass but it can cause a glare when it's
mounted to where it glares into his eyes more instead of straight downward. Can you try to
change it again, but this time, directly overhead. If it's mounted directly overhead & under
neath of the screen then you can keep it at or around 10 inches from him, right beside your
basking light.
He is definitely a little cutie! I hope he's eating well.

and .... please make sure beardie is unable to actually touch the basking globe or the MVB , they are very inquisitive and WILL stretch , even stand up to touch lights if they are in reach .

This is why many people who have beardie viv that are not very tall have cages around the basking bulbs or MVBs.

I have figured out what the problem was... it was the bulbs that I had. the reptisun UVB T5 10.0 bulbs were don’t working properly. I had ordered three during the same time and all three had gold tips, I did some digging and the gold tipped reptisun florescent bulbs were not working properly so the problem was not with the distance or with the enclosure. It was the bulbs that where manufactured during this time. So I changed the bulb to a new one that had a silver tip. hopefully he will recover. Thank you all for the help. I hope this help others. Also the bulb on the right in the picture is just an LED for brightness. The MVB was out side the enclosure.

Hello,

Oh my, that is too bad! I am sorry that happened to you, it has caused issues for a lot of people
but at least you have corrected it all. I hope that really helps him out. The tank looks really
great!

Hello,

I sent a PM to you as well. It can take a bit of time to recover from inadequate UVB lighting.
Since you have just changed the ilghts, give it some time to help get his levels up. How often
do you give calcium now?
Is he eating well also?

I'm not on the forums very often, but I did see this and watched your video. That is one gorgeous little dragon! I'm sorry you are/were having issues and hope this great info has helped. I had forgotten some of the things people posted so it was a good refresher. I found myself peeking over my shoulder at my BD "Monster" to make sure she was able to get close enough to her lighting.

Great looking tank set up. The only thing I don't like is the crickets running around, which is probably my OCD more than an issue. I really hated when Monster would be eating and another cricket would walk by and start biting her causing her to flinch and kick or swat it away. I did everything I could to get all the uneaten crickets out of my tank every night, but my log was very similar to your and there were multiple times that I'd inspect that log for any remaining crickets (OCD inspection) and I'd still occasionally see a cricket loose in the tank when I was checking back later. I eventually started feeding my crickets in a separate bin to ensure no crickets were in her tank overnight while she slept. I've switched to Dubia roaches since and greatly prefer them over crickets. Plus the ratio of meat to exoskeleton on a Dubia is much better than crickets so you shouldn't have any issues with your little beardie becoming impacted. Full grown crickets would impact my BD when she was not quite an adult, but she could eat fully grown male Dubia with no issues. I'm in Richmond, VA...I'm not set up to ship/mail Dubia at the moment, but if you're close enough to drive by I'd be happy to give you a few to see how your little guy/girl likes them. My Dubia bin went from sparse to over flowing so I definitely have enough to spare.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
