Help!! i think my BD is BLIND!

Hello,

Ok so GREAT news!! Rex is not blind anymore. I honestly think it is because we turned off our UVB bulb. all we have on is our basking lamps. Do the dragons REALLY need the UVB light? I dont know why my pics are not showing up i went to the website. Well thank you soo much for your help!

Hello,

Yes, bearded dragons need UVB light. If they do not get UVB exposure, they will not be able to absorb their calcium adequately which will leave them prone to getting metabolic bone disease.
The UVB light you were using was a coil or compact bulb which was the culprit. The compacts & coils are very harsh on their eyes. They glare & can damage the cornea. Especially if they are not used in conjunction with bright enough light or are too close.
So you will need to get the Reptisun 10 flourescent tube bulb. It is the long tube bulb. You can get it for a good price at:

This is our cage and Rex. this was when we thought he was blind and now we just bought them another basking place. higher up to the light and so that they both can be on separate sides of the tank.
