Ok so I got a armadillo lizard today. I'm not sure about anything and can't find much info any where. So if anyone knows any thing about them please give me some advise. It is about maybe 6in, looks kinda skinny I'm going to call the vet and see if they know anything at all about them. I will post pics tonight after dinner I did give him 4 crickets, a 65 watt balb, Any help would be great thanks everyone.

Huge update rello had 5 babies all together. I will post pics soon. Everyone seems to be doing fine not eating very well but are active and look good. Rello is doing great with them. I have some cute pictures of all of them cuddled into a towel. I have them in a 20gallon tank basking is 105F most days cool side about 88F. Babies about 3-3 1/2in long. Thanks for reading.

That is so cool, congrats on the babies!

You might want to separate them from Mom, though--Armadillo Lizards (and their close relatives, Girdled Lizards, which she more likely is--actual Armadillo lizards (Cordylus cataphractus) are actually quite rare in captivity, though Tropical Girdled Lizards are often sold under the name "Forest Armadillo Lizard" and are much more common in captivity, though usually wildcaught) are primarily insectivores and, as we often see with bearded dragons, insectivorous/carnivorous reptiles tend to readily eat tiny lizards given the chance.

Plus, if they aren't eating well, they're probably stressed--reptiles, as a general rule, are very solitary. They don't care for their young, and they don't enjoy the competition of being near others of their kind. It can stress them out to dangerous levels, and one symptom of stress is not eating well (or at all).

If you separate the babies from Rello, I suspect you'll see a big improvement in eating, since the babies won't be worried about the big, potential predator lizard, and Rello won't be stressed by the competition the babies create.

Again, that is so cool that she had babies for you. Congrats, and I hope they all do really well for you!!

(Of course, now I see it's been 2 months since your last post--how is everyone doing? :))

Everyone is doing great. I didn't separate them because everything I have read says they are better off in groups. They are all eating a ton I have got rid of all the babies to a lady that had more room than me.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
