That is the most frustrating thing to not know what happened or how sick they really are- you cant be running to the vet every time their
beard turns black- we lost Trogdor last March- it was devastating- we had her for 3 years - got her from the high school - my daughter brought her home as a babysitting job for the summer and we ended up keeping her- we basically rescued her as she was a very unhappy dragon in that small 20 gal tank - had a red light on at nite and her lights on a timer coming on at 2 AM and off at 2 PM- we quickly got rid of the red light and put her on our hrs w/ lights off at 7-8 PM etc... anyway she passed away March 21st - she had quit eating for about a week and was doing a lot of sleeping so we thought she was going into brumation when actually she should of been coming out of it- we think she may have passed away from heart failure - Troggy was old - we think around 13 - we put her in a 50 gal after we found out we could keep her - and took her out daily- spending time w/ us in our LR - you could tell she was a lot happier - but totally devastating when she upd and passed away- we werent thinking something was wrong- so now after we got Hiccup at the end of April this year I have been a little more in tune w/ what is going on - he is in that semi brumation period now as he is 8 months old - we took him in to the vet last Monday before winter sets in just to make sure he is good- I have been watching for dehydration and what he is eating and how much hes sleeping etc--- he was out this morning moving around his tank actively and eating a little - and he pooped - which is about every other day since his appetite is not like it was --- you will haft to give it time if you want another one -- I waited around 6 weeks or so and it was soooooooooooo hard to look at Troggys tank empty and dark- as she was in my office where I work every day --- you get so attached to them and when they die like that you are at a loss and its heartbreaking! Anyway I am sorry and know how you feel!
