Help.....hand caught in mouse trap!

I finally got it to work, here are photos of my little guy! We go to the "Specialist" on Thursday morning! He is still eating fine, but was acting like he is in pain today! It just breaks my heart!

Oh my, what a little cutie he is, he looks so alert! I am so sorry his hand is broken though, that is too bad.
I hope that it will heal up without him possibly losing it. Do you think they will immobilize it? Since it is his entire hand, they could definitely make a little mold for that to help it heal up I would think. He likely would not care for it too much, but it would help a lot if he couldn't move it or put any weight on it at all.

Thanks! Yes they said they would immobilize it and possibly give a calcium shot. The break is actually in his upper arm in the bone above his elbow. Clean break all the way through! wish I would have had the X-rays emailed to me. But he has no movement down from there so it just flops around!

He looks so cute and very well fed + healthy. He should heal up easily, take out any of the taller objects in his tank that he might jump from without changing it too drastically.

Thanks! Ok I will do that, he just has a curved log hide/basking spot that is really easy for him together on and off of! I am glad he looks healthy, I am always worrying about that! I am thinking positive about the outcome, it could have been a lot worse, and thank you all for keeping me calm....lol

Oh that sounds good then, immobilizing it & then giving a calcium shot! Geez, the break was up higher, poor thing. It should heal up nicely though with a cast on it. He is young too which he has that going for him to heal a little faster.
I am glad he is doing well & still eating & active, too.
If you can get a copy of the x-rays, that would be great to take a look at it!

So we are home from the vet and Dilly survived the trek! The vet says he looks really great and that it should heal nicely. Could take up to 12 weeks though. They didn't do a calcium shot and they just used his belly as a splint and taped his arm back and on his belly with some medical tape that won't stick to his scales. We will go back for X-rays again at 4 weeks. He weighs 30 grams!

That sounds good! Do take a picture of that if you can, that would be interesting to see. Does he seem to mind it then, or is it not bothering him? Poor thing!
It is likely to take at least 12 weeks, maybe even 16 to have the bone fully heal back. Hopefully it will heal pretty straight for him.

He isn't bothered by it at all, but it looks like it would be awful! He looks like he is in a body cast! I will post a picture when I get a chance. Thank you for everything, I am hopeful it will heal straight, and if not hopefully he isn't in pain and we will love him just the way he is!

Poor thing, a body cast almost? Well, if it keeps his arm immobile then that is all that counts.
He should heal up just fine & it seems like it isn't affecting him much on his appetite so that is good.
I will look forward to seeing a new picture of him.
Hopefully he isn't in too much pain, either.
