HELP for a newbie!

Hi guys. This is my first post on here. My son has a beardie called Rambo... hence the username.. LOL. Anyway we have had him from March when he was a few weeks old. he has been fine, but we moved in October to a new house.... and since then, he's not been himself... :? ... he tends to keep away from his heatmat, and goes to the other side of his vivarium where its colder... he doesn't seem to be eating very well, seems inactive, and when you pick him up he is cold... we changed his sand when we moved, but yesterday changed it back again to the original sand that he had when we first bought him back in March (when we moved we had used a different sand for his tank)... just to see if it was the sand that had caused his behaviour to change. We have the correct heat sources in his vivarium... and give him a calcium powder on his food... and explanation or advice, please, would be welcome... thanks... :mrgreen: ......... oh and HELLO by the way!!! :!: :wink:

Hi there,

Beardies often suffer from relocation stress, even when their tank has been moved into a different room, let alone traveling and living in a new house.
It could take him a couple of weeks to settle down.

However heat mats are never advised for beardies, as they cannot actually sense heat from bellow, so they can literally cook themselves.
Its'd be best to remove the heatmat/rock.

But just to be sure there is nothing else needs altering in your viv could you answer the following questions for us so we can help you?

How old is your dragon?
How long have you had your dragon?
How long is your dragon?
What is the sex of your dragon?
What size enclosure do you have your dragon in?
What type substrate do you have on the bottom of your tank? If sand, what kind:
Do you use UVB lights?
If so, Is it a coil, compact, fluorescent tube, or Mercury Vapor bulb?
What is the brand name and number of your bulb? Wattage (if MVB)?
How old is your UVB bulb?
How close can your dragon get to the UVB?
Do you use a separate basking bulb? What kind and what is the wattage?
What are the basking temps?
What is the cool side temp?
Do you take the temps with a stick on thermometer, a digital thermometer with a wire and a probe end or a temp gun?
Where exactly are you taking your basking temps?
What do you feed your dragon? Please be specific.
How often do you feed and what time do you feed (morning, afternoon, night)?
Do you gutload (feed) your crickets, worms, etc?
Do you use vitamin or calcium supplements? What brand(s)? How many days a week do you use each of them?
Is your dragon having regular bowel movements (poops)?
Do you bath your dragon? How often?
Do you mist your dragon or offer water other than in the bath?
