Help Eye problems

Hey guys um well ive had duncan nearly a 4 weeks and hes been shy since ive had him, he eats less than jaffa does but still eats his veggies and likes to run around. They both live in the same enclosure but i will be seperating them pretty soon the thing im worried about is duncans eye.

I noticed a few minutes ago jaffa was closing his right eye and when he did open his eye it was like he was trying to look up and there was that pinky colour at the bottom like when we look up too far and u can see the pink at the bottom. he did it about 3 times then it went back to normal. I took him out of the tank after that.

I dont know if the light is affecting him or if he has an eye infection or something. im really worried about him. Do any of you know what it could have been? this is the first time ive seen him do it but he could have done it when i was downstairs. He also has some kind of lump on the left side of his mouth maybe he hit it or something?

I use a 60W white light and a Reptiglo tube, their flooring is a grass carpet and i dont have the tempretures yet as my store ran out of them :/ I feed them tiny locusts dusted 5x a week along with some lettuce (ill be switching to collards) and Juvenile soft pellets.

Hello,

How close is the Reptiglo 10 tube bulb?
Is it affecting the other dragon in the tank or just him?
That particular bulb is known to cause some eye issues, but some have used it successfully. You need to be sure & have a bright enough basking light in the tank to help out with protecting the eyes.
For better UVB exposure, the Reptisun 10 tube has better wavelength than the Reptiglo 10 does.

He could have scratched his eye on something also. Is he shedding?

Thanks for the reply i havent seen him do it again i just fed them both, seperatly so they dont fight over the food. Ive kept a close eye on them both and can't see jaffa having any problems either, ive had the tube for about 5months so i will be replacing it, Ill go for a Reptisun 10.0 but they don't have any in stores around me so i think im going to have to order it online. Im not sure the distance my brother knows but he isnt here right now. I dont think their shedding Jaffa has turned to a yellowy orange colour but thats a different situation, he ate a locust that was too big and threw it up but hes perfectly fine now. Duncans tail was white yesterday then went black and now its his normal colour so im quite confused on whats going on there. so i dont think hes shedding quite yet i cant see any shed or change in colour on them.

Hello,

That sounds good, replacing the bulb soon should help out. Are you using a bright white light & not a light coated with neodymium, correct?
It sounds like he is doing well & has good colors then. Is he eating a lot too? I am glad you feed them separately too.
Are they males housed together?
Let us know how they are doing.

Yes it's a bright light one that the pet shop used themselves, they are a good trusted pet shop aswell. He isn't eat a lot, but he ate more than he usually does yesterday and I'll try him again today.

I still don't know their genders yet but I will be seperating them both just incase they fight or breed I can only guess their genders at the moment.
Should I stop feeding them lettuce until I get collard greens? People have said lettuce isn't good for them and I have looked at the beautiful dragons nutrition list.
Sometimes Jaffa runs into the wall is that normal? He wil just turn around stop then walk or run into the wall.

Hello,

Yes, lettuce is too watery really to feed them on a regular basis. It can cause diarrhea.
They do love to run at the walls or try to climb the walls so that is normal behavior.
That is great you will separate them, that will be best for the long run, definitely.
I am glad to hear they are both eating pretty well also.
Which greens are you going to be getting for them?

Yeah I hear beardies shouldn't be housed together the greens I'm trying to get them is collards and mustard greens but for some reason they only have lettuce at the moment :/ and my brother says that lettuce is fine for them tho I showed him the nutrition list and it's a bit of a problem since he's gets the food for me (the live food mostly but picks up lettuce when we run out.) collards is what I want to feed them maybe kale if that's any good?

Also Duncan is still super scared of me now, he runs away everytime I move my hand slowly in to either pick him up or Jaffa, he hides in a defensive position is there anyway to make him more comfortable?
He did the eye thing again yesterday it looked like his eye had gone in a tiny bit but he blinked and went back to normal?

I just fed Jaffa and about to feed Duncan but there is a wierd black bug in the tub of locusts...wil it harm my beardies?

That's the black bug it's like crawling around in the tub..my brother just accidently squished it, it was caught where u close the tub and it squished.
What is it?
