Hello
viewtopic.php?f=45&t=240853
This was the old topic. Still having an issue of him eating. He is constantly hiding and sometimes scratching or digging at the floor of his tank. He doesnt come out to eat crickets but he does come out for hornworms only

I suggest you change over from hornworms which are very poor nutritionally to silkworms (which will look similar only a different colour , which are much better nutritionally and very good as a lizard's staple feeder insect .
Also strongly suggest you check your tank temperatures aren't too hot (it sounds to me like he may be looking to find somewhere cooler) , see this viewtopic.php?f=5&t=233516
as it will likely explain the behavior you are seeing .

I dont know where i can buy silkworms where i am. I live in Ontario Canada. But i will hunt for them if i can. His tank on the hot/basking side is 85-90 degrees and his cool side is 75 to 80.

I’ll definitely try to find silkworms and see if that helps

I would check here to see if they have them in stock. They tend to be seasonal though. http://thewormlady.ca/silkworms.php Hornworms are a good treat too but all in moderation. At his age he should be eating mostly veges with the bugs being a treat and a once or twice per week meal.

I would bump your basking temps a bit. Basking surface should be between about 38-43C. You have an 18'' T8 ReptiSun 10.0 bulb correct? That should sit 15-20cm above the basking spot to be most effective. Using a T5 is a better bet in the long run though.

Well ill definitely upgrade when i can; i found a pet store that sells them i cant afford 50$ ups. He ate those and hung out with me a bite before he retired and went to bed.
Today he came out of his hiding before i went to work.

He hates green food and fruit the only thing i see him actually eat is raspberries on occasion. Ive tried everything to get him to eat. Kept him off food for a few days to see if he would eat but he absolutely hates them.

Ill be trying to get him to eat some of the crickets he has left tomorrow and see if he eats those till i get paid next week ill also try to get him to eat greens again. Ive been trying for months lol

Try some yellow squash. My guy goes out of his way to pick it out of the salad first. Just chop it into worm shapes and put it on the salad or hand feed them and see how it goes. They all have their own favorites but it's worth a shot.

I switch between yellow and green/zucchini squash depending on which looks freshest. This works with other types of squash as well and you can scrape spaghetti squash with a fork to create worm/spaghetti shapes too. I also offer chopped green beans, and bell peppers along with a rotation of greens.

Ooo okay i was unsure if it was a zucchini or not. I’ll definitely try all sorts of suggestions i think i am going to keep a journal to keep track on what he likes and doesnt
Or what he will eatch occasionally.

So you feed the salad every day? Is it once or twice? Or in the middle of the day? Also just a handful of crickets every other day?

Im new to this and i was only informed to feed him crickets.

I put together a big salad (about fist size or enough to fill two hands held together I suppose) every morning. If he goes through that I give him more. There's usually some left over though. It's good to identify their favorites over time and throw those into the rotation more. Otherwise I just rotate depending on what looks freshest at the grocery store each week. I try to offer as much variety as possible.

I use dubia roaches but same schedule as crickets. I offer those once (sometimes twice) per week and just offer as many as he wants in about a 10 minute window. He usually fills up and loses interest before then. He eats mostly salads. The adults don't eat nearly as much as the young growing dragons but it's important to keep a log of their weight so you can see how that is trending. You don't want it getting too high or to see any large downward trends.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
