I feed my beardie with regular brown so called "silent" crickets and I try to be careful when feeding him, but as im sure ye all know, every once in a while one gets away.
I remember losing about one or two under my bed not too long ago but that was it. Well since this mornin alone, I have caught 6 wandering around! And they seemed small. I am not really that bothered but i have heard of serious infestations. Should I be worried about this or will they just die off? Any information appriciated.
cheers

In the past when we've found more than we've lost that means that they are finding a way to get out. One time, the holes in the screen top were too big- my boyfriend and I spent a good chunk of a morning hunting down crickets. The other time, the lid had gotten left slightly ajar.

Hehehehe...my suggestion...get a feral kitten!

I Have 3 cats, all from feral origins. I have to keep the crickets locked up. Chupacabra, my 1 year old cat (got her at about 4 weeks as a feral kitten) she LOVES to eat crickets! She will dump the container and remove the top just to eat them.

When I clean the cricket bins, she is always hanging out to eat any stray crickets. Hehehe. I guess that's an extreme suggestion, but hey, it works for me.

Seriously though, crickets are not like roaches and most won't reproduce in your home. You probably have a hole in the bin where they are escaping.

My cat dumped a bin of at least 50 and ate most of them. I found like 4 or 5. Even with a mass escape, I don't have crickets all over my house...

I dropped our 20 gallon glass aquarium filled with about 10,000 itsy, bitsy, teeny, tiny, almost microscopic crickets on our dining room floor. We don't have an infestation. . . in fact we are having an issue trying to get the the baby crickets to grow big enough to feed to our dragon. I don't get a second dragon until the cricket farm is producing enough to support two. : (

Shakey I just had the same problem as you - only they got out into my roommates room :S

Anyway, I put the keeper outside for a few nights and they have since disappeared. That said, I won't be able to do this forever as things get a bit icy up here so I've switched to worms as a staple but I still get a handful of crickets to toss in whenever I pick-up feeders. That way my beardies are still able to have "exciting" food but I don't have to worry about escapes since all of them are eaten right away. And I don't need to buy food for them, listen to them sing at night (I have not found any of these silent ones omg)... I could go on. And crickets don't have that much nutrition to start off with...

Good luck!

If you found them near where you lost them than there is an easy trick. You take a shop vac or another high power vacuum and put it where you found a few! Lets just say I've lost afew noisy crickets.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
