Hi there, all today my beardie has had a black beard and spotted chest, he is not normally like this, his head and body is brighter then usual today as well, though his tail area is a different color then his body/head, its more like a dull yellow/grey/black, with the tail tip black. Another key point is when I offer him crickets (which is loves and has never turned down, EVER), he won't eat not one today....I'm a little worried, any ideas?

Is there anything off with your heat? What are his basking and cool temps? Sounds like your beardie is just showing stress marks, which can be caused by a number of things.

I just added a 50W normal everyday light bulb to the basking area because the temps weren't hot enough, it now sits at around 102 instead of say 95-98....also added a 60W everyday light bulb to cooler spot, now sits around 80, instead of 75ish.

I see youare using a temp gauge, those can be off by up to 20 degrees.Get a digital thermometer with probe.

Nono, I have two digital thermometers with probes, one on the basking area and one on the cooler side of tank, I just have a gauge in the middle, he was closer to the middle when I took photo.

Sounds like your basking temps are good. What kinda substrate is he on? What do you normally feed him? did you change his diet/terrarium set up at all?

He is on plastic tile that I installed when I setup his new cage, this was a few weeks ago now. He usually eats crickets (loves them).

Were the tiles the self-stick type with adhesive on the back? How old is your beardie?

Could be possible that he is shedding, though he just came out of a pretty big shed about a week ago. I am using the peel and stick tiles. Just an update, I believe he ate say 2-3 crickets in total today....nothing else.....

Mike

Hello,

The peel & stick tiles can sometimes emit fumes from the adhesive. I would recommend that you try to take those out if you possibly can & just use the tiles with no adhesive on the back.
I don't know if that is the problem, but we could eliminate that as a possibility if you change them out just to be sure that no toxic fumes are being emitted int he tank when it gets heated up.

Yikes! I stuck them on, I don't know if I can get them off the glass, I'll try though, ahhh this might be hard.

He ate a few crickets this morning, though his poo is greeny and has a little yellow attached to the white....if anyone knows anything about that!

UPDATED: He doesn't have a black beard today and he has ate about 10 crickets today. Though his skin is dark black and his chest has black spots on it everywhere, could this be a sign of bone disease?

Mike
