Right heres the deal we have a twin set-up with Marley above and Moe below.. both vivs have the same hanging thermo socket from Lucky reptile with 50 watt exo-terro sun glo bulbs.

Marleys bulb blew last week, thought nothing of it so changed it for the spare we had. Just come to her and the bulb has blown again. Haven't had chance to get a spare as OH has been in hospital so put her a 75 watt spare in that we had... literally in the space its took me to leave the room and come back in the bulb has blown AGAIN! We've had to put her an infra red heat glo in there out of desperation because we have no other option until tomorrow morning.

Moe's is absolutely fine and has the same 50 watt bulb as Marleys original. Haven't had to change his bulb yet from the day we bought them.

Both ceramic holders were bought from the same store at the same time 6 months ago.. only difference is the batch number. Marleys is 03-031110 wheres Moe's is 01-300910.

Question is has anyone had any issues with the holders blowing the bulbs this frequently or have i just got a dud one. Don't think the shop will take it back after 6 months, its just odd seeing as the other one we have has been working 100% with no problems and this one seems faulty.

I had the exact same problem - my bulbs all burst! The one holder literally caught fire - lucky i was there!
6 bulbs blew in the space of 2 days! i had to change 2 of the fittings as they were destroyed and then i just replaced the other 2 - my dad is an electritian and he said sometimes the holders just become faulty and started blowing the bulbs.

Sorry to say but its time to spend money and replace the holders otherwise you will keep running into the same problem im guessig.
When i changed my holders everything went back to normal and havent had to change anything as yet. (due to blow outs any way) :)

Hope that was some help to you!

Cheers hun. Looks like im going shopping for a new holder tomorrow, need new arcadia's anyway so kill 2 birds with one stone... may just run it by them at the shop though and ask how long theirs last as they use the same brand for their reppies. Good job i got paid last week

Sometimes ceramic holders just go bad. Being an electrician myself I've seen it several hundred times, but being used everyday for several hours a day, the average should last a year or so.
