HELP BLACKBEARDING UNDER HEATLAMP

I just finished cleaning and changes Spark's cage and he was alright unti he got on his basking spot. His beard suddenly went black, not the whole beard but most of it. We did have it changed to a hotter lamp but it was alright at the start.

Any ideas why he did this :?:

EDIT: Its gone charcoal black and it is slowly going down his chest. Ive never ever seen him this stressed. He can't see his reflection so it isn't that.

How old is Spark?

What type of thermometer are you using and what are the basking & cool side temps? What size tank is it and what are the wattages of the bulbs?

How is his breathing and how is he doing now? Is he still black?

Just got him out it has gone back up to his beard

He is just over a year.

60 watts the rock isn't to close in case it gets to hot

Breathing slighty fast but stable

Thermometer not sure

Cool side usually 25-27 Hot 30-35

No more black beard thank god. It might come back after i put him back in.

We really need the specifics of your thermometer, it's very important. Is it a digital strip, round gauge (dial type), digital with long wire & probe end or a temperature gun?

So, the basking spot is 30 to 35 celcius? That means it's only 86 to 95. Or, are you using a thermometer that's stuck to the glass and that's the reading you're getting there?

What did he have to eat today? What substrate is on the bottom of the tank? Is he in view of another beardie?

He has sand, but don't frett im getting it changed.

He isn't impacted he eats and poops regulary.

I have a thermomerter with a probe. Its a plastic one.

The thermostat is set on the highest amount of degrees which is 45. Actually it is 40-45 degrees on the hot side!! I read wrong

He had some roaches and he has liquid calcium.

Hmmm, is it possible that he is seeing something from that vantage point that is upsetting him?

Could he just be having relocation stress? You said that you just changed his cage. Sometimes Dudley will blackbeard me if I change things around too much in his viv.

Did you move anything in his viv? Like, changed the setup at all? When I got Spike the 50 gallon I think he was confused and had the same behavior. It might be that, but idk..
