Help my female beardie who is 3 - 4 years old will only eat crickets and occasionally super worms, she hardly moves around except to bask, and won't eat when handfed only if she catches the crickets herself, if I put superworms or salad leafs in her food dish she occasionally will come and get it, she may eat 1 leaf every 2 days, If I leave a lot of crickets in the vivarium she will catch and eat them all.

My male on the other hand won't eat nilch, even when crickets are running and jumping on his head or body will not move, only moves to espace into a cave at the moment he's been under a tree bark on the cool side of the vivarium he won't move from that spot for days, and gets annoyed when you move him(blows his beard up and gapes his mouth) in six days he's only eaten 2 superworms and 4 crickets(caught crickets himself but only when crickets were easy to catch and being lazy) Spike(that's he's name) won't eat when handfed either, I feel he may be very old, the petshop I got him only had one heatlamp no uvb light, and I feel they may of both(particualy him) gone into hibernation, I asked someone(not on this forum) who said the lizard sounds sick I should take him back and get another, but the truth is most of the lizards at the shop had problems like calcium defiencys and the ones that did'nt looked very grumpy.

If you want I'll try and send a photo of the male and will send a photo of female if that would help diagnose them, I'm thinking of either taking the male back or to the vet, I live in australia and I don't know how much a checkup would cost but I'm willing to pay what it takes but first I want to try some stuff myself, my mum is not keen on me taking him to the vet because of the cost and the fact they may not do anything(like your typical quack) having said that they could be excellent but I won't know either way until I've spent the money do you know any good vets in east gippsland, Victoria?

Any help with what I have said, and how to get them to eat their veggies and not just crickets and super worms, so far sophie(my girl) has eaten 4 salad leaves, lots of crickets, lots of superworms, 2 piece of strawberry and a few little flys that have come from the critter crumble which is made of coconut fibre which was recommended to us.

We are using Repti-Glo UVB tube(20W) and two heats lamps(75W each)
Basking area is 35 - 38 C , Cooling area is 22.9 C which sometimes goes up.

Thanks
ps: male recently went in the water dish and did quite a few poo's then went into cave again if that means anything.

Hello,

Welcome from Australia. :D
Definitely, if you have pictures of each dragon along with their setup that would be great. Are they housed separately or together?
I know that some do use the Reptiglo 10 seemingly without any issues, I have seen numerous cases where the dragons end up developing metabolic bone issues. I don't think the lights have been changed as far as the strength & the UVB:UVI ratio. If you can get the Arcadia D3 12% tube bulb, I would recommend that one. You should be able to find it in Australia or order it online.
What type of supplementation are you giving to them & how often?
How long have you had each one, Sophie & Spike?
Has Sophie ever laid infertile eggs before?
The vet costs are so widely variable & greatly dependent on what tests you end up having done. Most of the office visit prices range from $50 or so, but off hand I don't know of any vets in that area.

Let us know how they are doing.

Hi Tracie, I just have to pop into town but when I get back I'll send the photos, one thing I notice about Spike is if you move him out and then he sees you he'll back of back into the cave, and always stays alert hates people touching him, does that mean anything?.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
