HELP! Beardie lost 2nd toe!

I was watching my baby beardie shed and she was swimming in the water and scratching everywhere. Everything seemed to be going fine but then I looked at her right foot and there was a spot of red and I can only see 3 toes on that foot!

Will it reappear after shedding or did she really lose another toe forever??

Hi there....did she have a wound initially, or is she housed with another beardie ? If the answer is no to both of those, then she very well may have had a stuck shed that she bit off herself. It will not grow back, but she will live just fine without the toes.

The thing is you need to determine what happened, and although she will probably heal just fine you can put some unpasteurized [ raw ] honey on it to keep from becoming infected, then put a band aid over it. Do this after her foot is dry. Check it every 2-3 days, but it should heal fine like that. If she's housed with another dragon, separate immediately. Don't leave any loose crickets in the tank either. Offer water with a syringe or eyedropper to her snout so you don't have to bathe her for the next week or 10 days while her foot heals.
