Calcisand is dangerous because of the way it clumps up when wet and then dries hard like cement - so if your dragon ingests it, it can be like concrete in their digestive tract. With baby dragons it's best to keep them on something solid like paper towels, nonadhesive shelf liner, reptile carpet, and textured ceramic or slate tiles. This is because babies have tiny digestive systems that are more easily blocked up, and because they are clumsy hunters so they have a higher chance of ending up with a mouthful of ground. If you really like the whole sand look, once he's an adult you can use sifted children's playsand from the home improvement store (it doesn't clump up or dry hard like calcisand does).
