Hello!!!

Hello! My name is Elisa and I live in South Jersey. I got my first beardie for my daughter, who is 10 years old, and his name is Potato. I believe he's between six and eight weeks old and I have a ton of questions about his diet. The more that I read the more conflicting responses I'm getting. I'm not sure where the best place is to post these questions. So I will start here and if this is wrong feel free to re-direct me. My biggest concern is he is not eating enough. I will give him crickets, that have been dusted with calciumM, and he will eat three or four at a time I've been feeding him three times a day. He does not charge them. I take the tongs and I put them in front of him and he will eat them. But he looks alert to me. He looks healthy but again what do I know? I have put vegetables in his tank and he doesn't touch them. He likes to be at the top of his bridge. The temperature seems to be about 92° When we hold him or put him in the bath he is all over the place. But generally he just sits at the top of the bridge. He's very cute and we enjoy him and I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing by him. Not sure how to post a picture of him. The humidity is about 40% but lately it seems it's been rising a little higher. It has not gotten higher than 50%.

Hello, welcome to the forum! Is his basking spot 94º? If so, you ned to raise it. Low temperatures will cause lack of appetite because if it is too cold they cannot digest food. It should be 105º-110º.
What UV light do you have? What substate? Cage size and type? Please give us any information available.

Hi Elisa! What other kind of lighting do you have for him? What is your tank set up? Do you have UVB lighting? And what kind of substrate are you using? I.E. Tile, repti-carpet, or sand/shells? My primary concern if I were you would be getting the temperature of his basking spot up, I'm thinking somewhere around 110. If the temperature is too low, they won't be able to digest properly.

This is my potato. I don't know how to rotate the picture but I wanted to make sure anybody could see what he looks like. I will get a higher wattage bulb; is a 50 W basking light. What I am using in his cage is the reptile carpet. I do have a UVB bulb but only running half the cage

How do I rotate the pictures? You can see the basking light to the left of the cage and the UV light to the right I only have one bulb in. Should I have two? I put some drops of water on his face today and he licked them off. He only had about four cricket so far today. It is 1 o'clock in the afternoon

This is my newest photo. It is 2:20 PM. Oh as you can see there is a cricket there and he is not touching it. He is however checking out his vegetable bowl with squash in it but I don't know if he's eating any of it. Anyway, I do have a vet appointment with him on Tuesday but I'm just wondering if anyone can give any opinions on how he looks?

What kind of UVB bulb are you using? Coil or UVB? There's another discussion going on in the forums too about lighting and other tips you may want to look at, one of the most recent ones.
