Hi all,

Quick introduction - my name is Erika and I'm new to this, and to the world of bearded dragons. Me and my boyfriend just got our new baby beardie last Friday. He's the cutest thing.. small, super friendly, and seems to want to be more with us than in his cage. We've been looking for months at different types of bearded dragons. Initially, we wanted to get a fire Red or orange one, but then we saw ours and couldn't pass him up. However, the store we bought him at told us one (out of him and the other two there) was a hypo red. The girl told us ours was the hypo one, however, he seems to be a normal beardie.. but then other times he seems more orange. Maybe someone can help us determine what he really is?

Thanks and yeah.. we pretty much realized he wasn't hypo after we took him home. If anything he might be orange, but he hasn't shed yet so we'll soon find out. I think the store told us ours was the hypo because they didn't realize they had a hypo (the other one) and since they had them all priced normal, they didn't want us to give the hypo one for cheap! Regardless, I'm completely happy with ours no matter what color he is.

Unfortunately the red feet are from the sand the pet store we got him from used.. so we don't know his true colors yet. He finally is starting to shed for the first time so soon we'll find out what he is! Hoping he comes out a little orange.. he looks like it but it's hard to tell if that's from the sand or if it's his true colors. Yours is really cute too!

Thanks, no matter what color I love him. He's the sweetest little guy and loves being held. Is yours a special morph?

You know I have no Idea, went to the pet store looking for a BD didn't read to much into the morphs before hand. I sat and stared into the tank for about 10 minutes and picked Des out. Although Des changes his colors soooo much from dark to light to some orange, kinda crazy, lol never know what he looks like from here to there. :shock:

I do think you have a very cute dragon though, any idea of the sex yet? What are you gonna name em?

Ha, sounds the same as me. I don't think I've ever visited so many pet stores looking for a dragon. We were trying to get a more reddish or orange colored beardie. We were told ours was a hypo (they actually gave us the wrong one because they had them priced wrong and didn't want to give the hypo for cheap), ours definitely isn't hypo because their nails are white and ours is black. But I'm so happy with ours, he's so friendly and cuddly, seems to love being held more than being in his tank.

Yours sounds like mine, it's hard to figure out his color. From the start he was reddish because the tank he was kept in at the store had reddish sand and it dyed him. It's finally started to fade, we're waiting for him to shed, which he started to a bit today.. but he seems more orange, but then some days he seems normal colored. Everyday he's something new! After looking at yours, it kinda reminds me of ours. I was hoping he's a guy (that's why I refer to him as he), because I want to call him George (have a love for George Harrison).. but everyday he seems more like a girl because he's calmer. We'll see as time goes on but for now he's George!

Well George does seem very happy. I am glad you are too. True on the nails though that is something I have heard too.
