Hello there! New beardie owner and new member. Pics anyone??

My boyfriend and I just got a beardie from a gentleman off craigslist. Poor girl has been living her first 2 years without any heat lamps. We're spoiling her rotten, of course and providing tons of heat for her. We're still in the learning process when it comes to their behavior and what certain actions mean and such. We're certainly loving the ride, though!

Thank you! I do have some questions... when I walk towards her tank, she opens her mouth at me, and when I walk away she closes it. Is this just a sign that she doesn't want to be bothered?

And then there's been times when she tries climbing on the walls of the tank, like she's trying to get out. Any idea what that could be?

I've never been to a forum that doesn't like pictures. I'll be sure to post some when I get some!

Of course I too look forward to seeing some pic's. :wink:

When they gape it usually means they are regulating their temperture. However mine seem to do it sometimes when they want a treat or if they see me with the spray bottle. Crazy beardies expect me to spray their water in their mouths. Talk about spoiled. :roll:

The glass climbing thing you speak of we refer to as glass dancing. They will do this for several reasons or no reason at all. It could be temps are a bit high. If female she will do this when she is gravid. Sometimes they are just looking for some out of the viv time with their favorite human. During Spring and Summer months they are more active and will do this more often than in the cooler months.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes!! Fresnowitte ~ Thank you so much for the info! I'm still learning, but the more I learn the more I just adore her. As requested, I took loads of pictures tonight during bathroom bonding time and even a video! Aren't you guys lucky?? I hope you enjoy!! Also, let me know if this post is too big, I'll link all the pictures if needed.

I love this one, she jumped from my arm to the towel draped over the tub, posed, and then fell in. (It was empty...)

Then mommy rescues her and she gives me this look like "Whoops! Silly me. :XD"

Then she decides to use my hair to hold her up!

And then the best part of the night, Sydney discovers her reflection!

Thank you, I'm utterly head over heals about this little one. I think she's just stunning.

I'm also thinking that she's getting rather fond of me, too. But maybe that's just wishful thinking. :lol:
