hello! New beardie

I just got brought home my first bearded dragon today. He is 1 yr and 2 months old. He has done nothing but eat since I have had him. He is also staring to turn orange on his face and down his back. I don't think they used a UVB bulb at all and there are no therometers in the cage at all. I still have to get those. The good thing is I bought him and he came with cage and vitamines and some food and dishs. He is very freindly and loves to just roam. I was going to try and not hold him today because I just got him but he wanted out. LOL I opened the top and he would jump at me to pick him up. His name is spike. Not real orginal but he looks at you when you say it so I dont want to change his name. Thanks for reading. I am very excited about this guy. He is about 18 inches and seems to fine.

Where did you get your beardie? Sounds like you must be taking good care of him and are getting things all set up for him to have a good home. I am glad that his color is improving. I would definitely make sure he gets that UV light soon if you haven't already.

I already picked up the UVB on the way home when they did not give me one. I knew he needed it. I got him from another family that posted him on craigslist. It was their daughters and she did not want him any more. I paid $100 for him and everything they had for him. Not a bad deal at all.

No - that seems like a good deal ...for an adult beardie especially. I lost mine recently and I had also adopted her as an adult. This time I think I am going to try starting with a juvenile...which will be a new learning experience for me! Luckily I discovered this forum and have been learning all I can. It is so awesome to have people who are up-to-date on all the latest things for beardies. Though my beardie was well taken care of, I have learned things I will do differently next time!
